AKISHA CASSERMERE
OWNER/CEO
Akisha Cassermere was born & raised in Stamford, CT. She earned her Associate's degree in Science at Norwalk Community College in 2012 (Human Services), and she continued her education at Sacred Heart University where she earned her Bachelor's degree in Science (Criminal Justice) in 2019.
Akisha has over 25 years experience advocating for children & families. Her professional background includes working with parents of young children where she conducted personal visits helping facilitate positive parent-child interaction. She also has experience facilitating parent groups centered around child development. What is most important about this work for her is to help parents understand how they are helping with their children's development by playing with them. Children learn through play. Over the past 3 decades Akisha has been working with individuals and families with diverse ethnic, gender, religious, and socio-economic backgrounds. She has experience working with and helping support people in recovery, and people struggling with mental health issues.
Until January, 2022 Akisha spent 15 years dedicating her life to community service through a non-profit organization that she founded in 2007 (Breakthrough Options for Families, Inc.). The organization's Mission is to advocate for single parent families in poverty, and provide mentoring for enrolled children that are at-risk.
It has always been important for Akisha to challenge herself, and take necessary steps to toward personal and professional growth. She is now the proud owner of Cassermere Media, LLC. Cassermere Media has 4 contracts with the CT Department of Children & Families: Supervised Visitation, Support Staff, Therapeutic Staff, and Temporary Care.
