March 6, 2025 – Meeting Minutes

Attendance:  Karen Bradford, Shelly Crouch, Sharon Durham, Shawn Huisinga, Susie Mathews, Chrissy Squires, Doug Stoutin, Librarian Gretchen Murphy and Friends of Library, President Tom Daughhetee

I. Call to Order: President, Susie Matthews called the meeting to order at 4:58 pm

II. The Consent Agenda.  Motion made by Huisings, seconded by Stoutin, motion approved

• February 2025 Financial & Activity Reports

• February 2025 Minutes 

• Checks signed to pay bills

III. New Business, presented by Librarian Gretchen Murphy

1. Friends of the Library, Tom Daughhetee 

• Friends scheduled a Book Sale June 14 downtown, during Casey Crazy Days. 

• Daughhetee called a marketing committee meeting following today’s board meeting.

2. Summer Reading Program, Librarian Murphy

• Employees, Kim and Abby, are planning the program “Level Up “ 

• Program participation is growing annually.

• Activities being arrange:  bounce house, scavenger, focus on reading goals

      c)  VanDike Check Donation, Librarian Murphy

-    Library received a $20,000 donation for the library building fund.

-    Discussion: 

                        1)  deposit in Money Market

                        2)  CD at 4.18% for 12 mo.

-   Squires made a motion to buy a $20,000 CD at 4.18% for 12 mo. From Casey State Bank.

                       Durham 2nd the motion, motion carried.

4. Bond Information, Librarian Murphy

• The Illinois Grant fund of $1,023,000, can’t be used in conjunction with a Bond.

• Tim King, C.P.A. from Monticello, said he’d need confirmation of percentage cost of construction in order to purchase a bond.

IV.  Motion to adjourn at 5:19 pm. 

        Motion carried.     Next meeting, April 3, 2025 @ 5:00 pm
