Casey Township Library Board

June 6, 2025 – Meeting Minutes

Attendance:  Karen Bradford, Shelly Crouch, Shawn Huisinga, Doug Stoutin, Librarian Gretchen Murphy and Friends of Library President, Tom Daughhetee

I. Call to Order: President, Susie Matthews called the meeting to order at 5:03 pm

II. The Consent Agenda.  Motion by Bradford, seconded by Stoutin, approved

• June, 2025 Financial & Activity Reports

• June, 2025 Minutes 

• Checks signed to pay bills

III. New Business, presented by Librarian Gretchen Murphy

1. Friends of the Library, Tom Daughhetee

• Presented new tri-fold color map of Casey

• City of Casey working with a Federal Rep to assist on writing grants for the community

  • New grant of $1,6000,000 for sewer upgrade in 2026, approved

  • This collaboration, very possibly, could assist the library.

• Woot Woot, national group connected with Amazon, is holding their 21st Birthday Party on           

June 14th, at the World’s Large Mail Box.  Event open to the public.

2. Summer Reading Program, Librarian Murphy

• Theme, Level Up, large attendance on opening day, June 5th.

• Special reward gift items donated by Molly Bellamey 

• Ideas for summer event:  board games, yard games, etc

      c)   Dolly Parton Imagination Library, Librarian Murphy

-    Casey Library has joined this program under the Marshall Public Library

4. Building Discussion, Librarian Murphy

• Spacing width and shelving height lost for handicap assistance 

• Community Room?  Possible ways shelving units could be “rearranged” for activities.

• Outdoor ramp location, off street handicap parking

5. Reschedule July Meeting: Librarian Murphy

•  Suggest June 26, 2025 to replace July regular meeting.  Approved by all in attendance

6. Annual Financial Report:  April 1, 2024, ending March 31, 2025

•  Presented and read by Gretchen Murphy, Librarian.  

• Copies of Annual Report supplied for all Board Members

IV.  Motion to adjourn at 5:48 pm

        Motion carried. Next meeting, June 26, 2025 @ 5:00 pm
