Casey Township Library Board

August 7, 2025 – Meeting Minutes

Attendance:  Karen Bradford, Sharon Durham, Shawn Huisinga, Susie Mathews, Chrissy Squires, Doug Stoutin, Librarian Gretchen Murphy, Friends of the Library President, Tom Daughhetee

I. Call to Order: President, Susie Matthews called the meeting to order at 5:03 pm

II. The Consent Agenda.  Motion by Durham, seconded by Mathews, approved

• July, 2025 Financial & Activity Reports

• July, 2025 Minutes 

• Checks signed to pay bills

III. New Business

1. Friends of the Library, Tom Daughhetee

• Friends will assist with cost of replacing A/C for library

• Meeting for Marketing Committee in September when all of committee can attend

2. Imagination Library, Librarian Murphy    

• Marshall Library is our Parent Company. Casey is covering the zip code area of 62420 and 62474

• Currently 41 kids have signed up in Casey

• Setting up a table near the musical event during the Popcorn Festival to promote Imagination Library

• Brochures will be handed out with a life-size cut out of “Dolly” for photo opportunity.

• Kids ages 0-5 receive a book monthly if they sign up for the program, sponsored by Rural King

• Suggest the QR code be promoted on library Facebook and website.

4. Air Conditioner, Librarian Murphy

• Bids for replacement A/C was sent to 3 locally owned businesses

• Discussion and review of bids received from Pershio, Remlinger with Maschof non-responding

• Discussion unanimous to get another bid from a third party. 

• Due to urgency, a “texting” vote would be approved after a third bid is received and reviewed

5. Money Matters, Squires

• $90,000 CD has been renewed for 4.15% at 12 mo at Casey State

• $270,000 CD is continuing to earning 4.15%, term of 12 mo

• $18,000 left in Money Market account

• Hensley transferred $10,000 to operating from American Fund to cover operating expenses 

IV.  Motion to adjourn at 5:54 pm

        Motion carried. Next meeting, September 4, 2025 @ 5:00 pm
