April 3, 2025 – Meeting Minutes

Attendance: Karen Bradford, Shelly Crouch, Shawn Huisinga, Susie Mathews, Doug Stoutin, Librarian

Gretchen Murphy and Friends of Library, Tom Daughhetee, President

I. Call to Order: President, Susie Matthews called the meeting to order at 4:58 pm

II. The Consent Agenda. Motion by Stoutin, seconded by Huisinga, approved

 March 2025 Financial & Activity Reports

 March 2025 Minutes

  Checks signed to pay bills

III. New Business, presented by Librarian Gretchen Murphy

a) Friends of the Library, Tom Daughhetee

- Shared copy of 03/25/2025, Capital Campaign Committee Meeting notes

- Committee propose: contact corporations, foundations, philanthropist within 35 miles of Casey

- Developed full-color one-page double-sided handout, given in person

- Place a small “Little Free Library” in downtown area with QR code

- Consider a secure donation box

- Create merchandise to sell, incorporating bookworm in design

- Join Chambers of Commerce as a non-profit

- Goal progress thermometer (or similar item) placed near bookworm outside

- Participate at Popcorn Festival

b) Summer Reading Program, Librarian Murphy

- Theme, Level Up, organized by employees, Kim and Abby

- Veterinarian department at U of I, Champaign, $100 fee, will do a program on birds

- Brenda Dillier, will provide time and talent

c) Memorials, Librarian Murphy

- Joyce Blome memorials, building fund

d) Book Repair Workshop, Librarian Murphy

- K. Tipsword attended

- G. Murphy took a workshop on bar coding.

IV. Motion to adjourn at 5:52 pm.
