The project was approved in 2013, and construction is currently ongoing.
This proposed project is located in the vicinity of an existing Ormat geothermal complex. The project consist of a new geothermal power plant at an existing geothermal complex where three plants are already present. Most of the project is located on National Forest System Lands. The new plant would generate geothermal power to the California electrical grid through the Southern California Edison Substation.
This would entail:
Building a new 33 net MW binary power plant;
Developing a geothermal well field of 16 wells;
Constructing pipelines to transport the geothermal brine to the power plant and injection wells; and
Installing a transmission line to the Southern California Edison Substation.
The application was to construct and operate the plant, and after 30 years, decommission the CD-IV Project.
