I am currently a Staff Writer for the Longboat Observer, a part of the Observer Media Group. In this position, I am a news reporter for the town of Longboat Key, which has allowed me to hone my skills of local beat reporting. Originally from a small town in Pennsylvania, I have been passionate about the environment from a young age. Starting at Eckerd Collaege with the intention of studying marine science, I switched to environmental studies with a journalism focus once realizing the impact journalism can have in science communication. After a year of research-focused courses and getting involved with the student newspaper on the side, I realized that my true passion was with communicating about the environment and interpreting the science rather than conducting the actual research. Although I mainly focus on written communicatoin, I also have experience with graphs, infographics, data interpretation and ArcGIS.
