Even though pumpkin spice lattes and Halloween decorations have been out since the beginning of September it is now officially fall! Here's a playlist perfect for pumpkin patch and apple picking trips.
State of Grace- Taylor Swift (RED)
If you're a swiftie then you know that Red is a fall album. If not, you know it now! While all of these songs invoke the feelings of fall, this one does it best. Being the opener it sets the stage for what’s to come, and hopefully keeps you listening.
Killer Queen- Queen (Sheer Heart Attack)
It’s almost been a year since the movie Bohemian Rhapsody took the world by storm and started a Queen resurgence. I partook in that, so of course I took some time to listen to their music. This is one of my favorite Queen songs and it brings me back to late October and November. Just me always playing it in my car.
Wake Me Up When September Ends- Green Day (American Idiot)
Now the obvious reason this song is on here is because September is in the name, but there’s a bigger reason too. It’s a good transition song. It has hints of summer and fall within it. It’s the perfect way to say goodbye to summer.
Bedford Falls- Knuckle Puck (While I Stay Secluded)
Fall is the pop-punk season, so it's no surprise this song has made it onto this playlist. The lines “while I'm dying at this desk you’re dying in your head” are another reason this song is on this playlist. The first half reminds me how as a college student all of us are stressed with our current work load. The second half made me think of how September is suicide awareness month and that friends need to check up on friends.
Colorblind- Moments (Feel Something)
This song continues this pop-punk theme. There were a few songs I could’ve picked for this out of the current moments discography. I ended up picking Colorblind. This song is off their debut, which came out in the fall and the first time I ever saw them live it was during the fall too. As a result, this playlist wouldn’t be complete if they didn’t have a spot on it.
Headfirst for Halos- My Chemical Romance (I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love)
If you've read my reaction to this album (which you should look at after this if you haven't already) then you know that I would always listen to this song as the leaves begin to change. It just fits the season so well to me. As soon as the song comes on I can feel the cool breeze fall brings.
Drugstore Perfume- Gerard Way (Hesitant Alien)
This song is like one of those days where it’s just cool enough for a sweatshirt, but the sun is shining. This song takes me to walking down a lane where trees with all different colored leaves line the path. The second verse heights these items. Way sings about "dead leaves, desperate summers/ all-ages clubs and metal shudders..." The leaves part is obvious, but the all ages clubs half resonates with me. In the fall I tend to frequent more smaller shows rather than bigger venues. That line sums it up.
Only in the Fall- Mandala (Cash for Smiles)
This song gives me the same feelings that “...Halos” does. It shows you the fall scenery and the colors it brings. It brings the crisp air all around you. I can see all the fall decorations outside of people's houses and the leaves being swept up by the wind. It's a perfect song for this time of year.
Grand Theft Autumn (Where Is Your Boy?)- Fall Out Boy (Take This to Your Grave)
Tis the season for this song to live up to its name. If you’re like me and you’re going to miss the warm weather a tiny bit this song will make that process a whole lot easier.
"God and the Buildboards"- Aaron West and the Roaring 20s (Routine Matinence)
