The summer's ending, but that doesn't mean we can't party for a little bit longer! This play list can keep that party going. In this playlist you'll find songs that reference the end of summer, remind me of the end of summer or have end of the summer vibes.
The Calendar- Panic! at the Disco (Vices and Virtues)
- This one was pretty easy to pick. I always play it (and quote it) around this time for the sole reason that "summer's on its deathbed" is a lyric in it. Plain & simple.
Favorite Record- Fall Out Boy (American Beauty/ American Psycho)
- This song has the same energy as driving during a beautiful sunset. It's happy and bittersweet, just like the end of summer.
Gold & Green- Slaughter Beach, Dog (Birdie)
- This song sounds like being/playing outside in the sun or driving in a rural/small town on a sunny day. This song captures and essence I can't describe- so go listen to this song while I try to put it into words.
August is Over- We the Kings (We the Kings)
- This ones pretty self explanatory. But that shouldn't discredit it! It's still a bop (a whole twelve years later). On the service it sounds like a great road trip song, but if you listen a little closer you'll realize it's talking about the main character having to leave where they currently are- just like all you college kids will (or already have).
Long Way Home- 5sos (5sos)
- Even though I've grown out of 5sos I still have a soft spot for this song. It was and still is my favorite off their debut album. As to why it's on this playlist? It has driving on a summer night energy and/or bon fire energy.
Partly Sorry- Tipling Rock (Partly Sorry/ Monaco)
- I had actually never heard of this song until fellow blogger Paige Williams (@Paigebackstage go check her out after you read this!) tweeted about it & how she's listening to this to avoid thinking about the end of Summer. You need to hear this song. It is so groovy! You can catch me dancing to this song in my room next week when I should be getting ready for school.
Do You Remember? (The Other Half of 23)- The Maine (Lovely Little Lonely)
- The song is about looking back on what you've done, just like we all are now. Just in our case it's only looking back at the last three months.
You Need to Calm Down- Taylor Swift (Lover)
- Just cause the summer is ending doesn't mean we can't have fun while it lasts! This song is upbeat, fun, and a big reminder we don't have to sulk about summer ending...yet.
Colors- Halsey (Badlands)
- Halsey's debut album came out around the end of Summer & that's when I first heard "Colors" as well. Hearing this song always takes me back to that time; to discovering Halsey.
Gram- The World Is A Beautiful Place And I Am No Longer Afraid To Die (Always Foreign)
- This song can bring you back to playing outside as a kid just from hearing the line "we waited all night to hear the story/ of how the two stupidest kids could come to glory." Back when you- or we were younger we ran around outside when it was nice out. The summer scene was you and your friends backlit by the sun and the soundtrack was your laughter. This song reminds you of that, but it also reminds you you're grown (or growing up) now.
