Spooning

When you roll over to my side

Under the aqua green quilt

Your body cocooned around mine

In the translucence of dawn

I curl up to the right at the edge of the bed

A fetus

In the protective shell of human flesh

Head sunk into the buckwheat pillow

I've lugged from continent to continent

And nothing could feel more cozy

Nothing more tender

Than

My buttocks cradled against your groin

Your chest pressed to my back

Left hand cupping my breast

In the height of safeness

I drift back to slumber

At peace

The clamor of the world far behind me.
