I trust you had a fantastic summer. Mine was… let’s just say… I will never again say, “I’ll do that project over the summer when I have more time.” It hasn’t worked in years. I’m not sure why I thought it would work this summer.
Where you see DISTRIBUTE, please distribute this information to your chapter members. Send an email, post to your LMS, post to your Socials… however you communicate with your chapter. These are time sensitive.
DISTRIBUTE: A message from Alpha Omega Alumni Association:
The deadline for the Joan Keller Scholarship and “Papa” John Sharpe Scholarship is coming up on September 4th! We’d love your help encouraging eligible students in your chapters to apply and reminding them of the upcoming deadline. We want to make sure students across the Carolinas Region know about these opportunities and have a chance to apply! The updated scholarship packets include all the information they need, along with the application portal links and have been attached to this email.
DISTRIBUTE: Registration is now OPEN for the Fall Leadership Conference. The conference, hosted by James Sprunt Community College and co-hosted by Craven Community College and Cape Fear Community college, will be in Kenansville, NC, October 9-11. You can register by clicking this link and then clicking on "Register here" under the list of chapters. Registration is $100 for members/advisors and $75 for alumni through mid-September. Hotel reservations can also be found on that page.
DISTRIBUTE: Lip Sync Battle is happening at Leadership this October 2026!
You can perform solo, with a friend, or get a whole group together. Costumes, props, and choreography are encouraged (and optional), but the main goal is to have fun with it!
And your registration helps raise money for scholarships for PTK students in the Carolinas Region.

DISTRIBUTE: The Alumni will be hosting a Transfer Fair at Leadership. Encourage your students to attend and talk to representatives from schools! There is valuable information to be gained from these and it can be a time-effective way to speak to multiple schools at once! Also, if you have connections at any 4-year schools, we love connections and contacts! Send them on!
In Other News:
About Leadership, I will be sending all chapters an MS Office Form to indicate if they, or a student, or group of students would like to lead a brief session! We would like more participation from our members and there is so much we can share with each other. So, think about what you, your members, may want to guide in a brief slot! It doesn’t have to relate to what we typically see at a conference. If you have expertise in something that you think others could benefit from hearing about, let’s hear it! Be on the lookout for the form to sign up (and the Agenda for the Conference) coming soon!
Your Regional Advisory Board has looked at the Regional Bylaws and will soon be doing a final discussion on 1-2 items, voting, and passing updates. After this, they head to headquarters for their approval. If approved, they will be posted on our regional website which is being continuously developed (though it is one of said projects that has not had enough love from me this summer due to my (paid) job.) Take a look around it!
It’s 8am on a Saturday morning and I’m trying to remember what else I need to tell you…
PTK Awareness Week usually comes about the third week of September. Think about what your chapter will do to encourage membership in and participation in PTK. We are sitting at 4555 members in our region right now. I’m not a “we have to have more, more, more just for the sake of having MORE!” type person. But we know the benefits of membership can be huge. (And, to be honest, in the spirit of competition with ourselves, let’s try and get 2096 more members before December 31 which will be 1 more than last year!) 😊
So, with that said, current eligible lists expire TODAY. Any student who was on your uploaded list and did not join from May 16-today, will be dropped from the list and you’ll need to run eligibility and upload a new list after today. Let’s catch those students who became eligible because of their summer performance, or have wanted to join in the past and haven’t yet!
If you still want/need hosting credit for Carolina Superstars eligibility, there are online options. I have two schools who are going to plan something and get their credit that way. We have a couple more months where we can fit something in.
I’m sure I have forgotten something but… Most of all, have an AMAZING start to the new term. If you have any questions, or need anything, let me know and I will do my best. If I miss something, please don’t hesitate to remind me that I said I would… blah blah blah and haven’t gotten back to you yet. I don’t want anything to fall through the cracks. I have a wonderful leadership support team and they can help as well.
