FACING TOMORROW
FACING TOMORROW
These question lies at the heart of FACING TOMORROW, a documentary photography project that explores how climate change shapes young people’s decisions about parenthood in Germany. In a time of ecological uncertainty, the desire to have a child becomes an ethical dilemma for many.
Through portraits, everyday scenes, and interviews, FACING TOMORROW encounters young people caught between hope and fear, responsibility and longing. Some continue to hold onto the wish for parenthood, believing in care, resilience, and the possibility of change. Others consciously decide against having children, unwilling to bring a child into an uncertain future. Between these positions lie many ambivalent voices—marked by doubt, love, and inner conflict.
FACING TOMORROW reveals how global crises permeate deeply personal life choices. The images and conversations portray individuals who begin to renegotiate familiar ideas of family and future. Rather than offering answers, the project leaves space for questions—and opens a dialogue grounded in empathy.
The project illustrates how profoundly the climate crisis reaches into the most intimate sphere of human life: the desire to have children.
