We have a sequential program. All are welcome in Art 1 and Digital Art 1. After your freshman year you can also take Ceramics, Digital Photography, Illustration & Design 1&2, CTE Illustration 1, Drawing & Painting, Studio Art, Ceramics 2, and AP Art.

Our program serves all skill levels, and all the students of Carlmont are welcome and can be successful in our wonderful art program. All our classes satisfy the A-G requirements and some also satisfy the district’s CTE requirement.

Teachers

Tina Condos has been teaching Ceramics at Carlmont since 2002. She earned her BA in Ceramics and Liberal Arts from San Francisco State University, and received her teaching credential from Notre Dame De Namur. She currently teaches both Ceramics 1 and Ceramics 2. She loves teaching art because she believes that art gives every student a chance to succeed, and art can reach every student.

Cindy Hodges has been teaching for over 8 years, and at Carlmont since 2008. She earned her BFA at S.U.N.Y. Purchase in New York and worked for over 12 years in the film and theater industries, painting sets and making models. She received her art credential from San Jose State. Cindy Hodges currently teaches Digital Photography 1 and 2, Art 1, Studio Art, Drawing and Painting, and A.P. Art


Julia Schulman has taught at Carlmont since 2007. Before that, she taught middle and high school in San Francisco for 12 years. She also taught college art and worked as an illustrator before dedicating herself to teaching full time. She is a graduate of Parsons School of Design with a BFA in Illustration, and an art credential from Bank Street College of Education in New York City. She also has an English teaching credential from San Francisco State University. At Carlmont, she teaches Illustration and Design, CTE Graphic Design & Illustration, Art 1, and Illustration and Design 2.

Josh Sheridan has been at Carlmont since 2007, and he loves the school. Before that he taught in San Mateo for 8 years at a Middle School. This year he is teaching Digital Arts I/II and Digital Photography. He graduated from SJSU with a BA in Art. He also has an MA in Instructional Design from SFSU.
