When applying to colleges it's always best to choose the school that will be best for you! Consider the environment, community, size, location and what the school is best known for. Applying to colleges can be overwhelming at times. Taking a break between periods of work can be helpful. Disorganization can inhibit the amount of work one’s able to get done at a given time. If ever you're feeling disorganization, try creating a list of objectives you wish to achieve. This can help you to maintain organization and narrow down the major important work that must be done. Furthermore, asking for assistance from a teacher or guidance counselor can be helpful. Here is some advice from fellow students here at H. Frank Carey who are also experiencing the ups and downs that come with the college application process:
“The college [application] process is a beast of its own and can be super overwhelming and mentally tiring. You’ll never get it done in one shot so it’s okay to take breaks and set it aside. Let other people help to guide you along the way of your college process and take it day by day.” - Alessia Perciballi
“College will always be there, the moment may not so live in it.” - Blessing Bafunso
“I usually just take a step back when I get too overwhelmed, listen to music or something to take my mind off of it for a bit because it can be a lot at times... It’s important to take a break and let yourself relax a little.” - Grace Bowen
“As a person who is actually stressed about college, my first step is to take a deep breath and relax. I try to take walks in the great outdoors because it really helps your mind… clear any negative thoughts.” - Jennifer Velasquez
“You can write a journal or diary entry... Write your feelings down so that once you’re done with applications you can go back and reflect.” - Madelyn Amaya
“Stop stressing. Lay back, unwind, take a moment to breathe and appreciate the beauties of life.” - Anthony Martinez
