This year, the holiday season will be different from the past. Due to the pandemic, we can’t have the fun and large celebrations we used to have. Instead, only a few people are allowed to come over. However, even with the COVID rules in place, you can still have fun this holiday season. For example, you can have an outdoor gathering instead of an indoor one while limiting the number of attendees from different households. Guests at your gatherings should avoid making direct contact with you or any other guest. This includes avoiding hugs, handshakes, and more. Also, they should try to stay six feet apart from each other. If you are going to cook or serve food for someone who does not live in your household, wear your mask. If you are someone attending a holiday gathering, remember to store your mask in a safe and secure location. You can also encourage guests to bring their own food and drinks. However, if you still want to have a large gathering while staying safe, you can have an online party using zoom or google meets. People normally like to travel during the holidays but due to the pandemic, traveling has become dangerous. We suggest you explore some local options. For example, you can go to safe places that are Covid friendly, such as going to the light show at Jones Beach. They have set up a drive through where you can stay in your car with your family and enjoy lights representing characters and pretty scenes. Another place you can go is Dixon Heights. There you can walk around with your family and enjoy the holiday decorations. This holiday season was unexpected and will be very different but there is one thing that will stay the same: the love and joy of the holidays. So try to wear a mask at all times to keep you and your family safe! Happy holidays!
