The Dymo CardScan 800c Card Scanner is a versatile and efficient solution for digitizing business cards and managing contact information. With its high-speed scanning capabilities, it swiftly captures contact details from business cards, including names, addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses. The included software helps organize and categorize the scanned data, making it easy to manage and retrieve contact information. The CardScan 800c is known for its accuracy and compatibility with popular contact management software like Microsoft Outlook, making it a valuable tool for professionals, sales representatives, and anyone looking to streamline their contact management process.

The 800c business card scanner, at 6.5 inches long (16.5 cm), 4 inches wide (10.2 cm), 1.5 inches high (3.8 cm), and only 1.23 pounds (.55 kg), is well-suited for the business traveler who receives a lot of business cards.

It's possible to force the cardscan driver to attempt to work with your device by adding the usb ids to the cardscan.conf file and making sure the same ids are added to a udev rule similar to those found in 40-libsane.rules. But all of this work might just show that the device doesn't work anyway.

You need to get in touch with the cardScan manufacturers and ask them to release drivers if possible and documentation if not. We need to know how these devices work and what the protocols are. Otherwise it's going to be expensive to recreate the drivers from scratch.

I work for a Physicians group and we are having trouble with the new Florida and New York drivers licenses. We use id scanners to add their licenses to patients charts for identification purposes. So all we need is an image of the card. But the new drivers licenses create two images where the card is split down the center and the two half's of the card are flipped to face opposite directions.

I'm looking at the new Florida license design online, and i'm not sure what you mean. The cardscan hardware only scans one side at a time, so if it's the front/back being flipped, that's someone not feeding the card properly. If you mean the image of one side is being split and flipped.. I'm not sure how that's even possible unless there is an issue in the software, or the scanner itself.

My other concern is that the old Cardscan hardware is not designed to handle holographic images of any kind - there's no DSP to handle the image noise caused by them. It's designed specifically as a business card scanner with simple OCR with a fixed 300dpi ccd scan head.

Newer ID card scanners are built around a CIS photographic scan head, instead of a CCD or CMOS scan head as well, which allows for higher resolution and better image quality with all the annoying security measures on the cards. Depending on how the cards are designed, they often have to be fed through sideways through CIS scanners because of how some states orient the holograms on the cards.

We have been using them for driver's licenses up until the new FL and NY licenses that cause an issue along with insurance cards and sometimes we put regular business cards through them.

I also called the DMV to see if they had any information on what to use and they provided no help beside that it is probably part of an added security feature.

New York went to the black and white portrait on polycarbonate in 2013. They dont flex very well at all. I havent heard of any changes since then. The licenses are primarily laser engraved and perforated, so there shouldnt be any visual security measure affecting your scanners. This sounds like the driver is having issues with the image processing.

A complete business card scanning package includes both a physical scanner that can plug into your work computer and a phone app that allows you to take pictures of cards on the go, as well as robust software that connects to your CRM system and has the ability to export contacts to social media.

The CardScan Executive 800c card scanner, with its supporting software, is a well designed and choreographed interplay of scanned image to OCR engine to YOUR choice (cache) of data. Yes, you need to specify a destination FILE. CardScan Executive accurately scanned virtually every business card I could find and borrow (several 12+ years, mangled a bit, stained with coffee).

CardScan Executive 800c is on Amazon for about $230 or your local B&M store for a few dollars more. There is an extensive Help system available, and if that does not work, you can contact CardScan via e-mail. If you purchase directly from CardScan, you are offered a 30 day trial period - if you are not completely happy, send it back. Single user and multiple/network licenses are at www.cardscan.com.

However, in the Frameworks folder, there is one named "Alpha.framework". And within that, I have another Resource bundle for it named "alpha.drv.bundle". It's just a resource bundle, but in it are a bunch of .string files, which have error messages you might expect out of a scanner driver.

These scanner drivers are App bundles, but quite a bit different than regular applications. An executable binary is inside Contents/MacOS, along with the obligatory plists, Resources, etc. Even so, they're typically quite a bit more barren than an actual Application bundle. 2351a5e196
