Information CardNote handles
CardNote lets you create and manage notes. Depending on how you use the app, the information handled on your device may include:
• Note titles and note content
•Rich text formatting, Markdown text, folders, tags, pinned status, archive status, and trash status
•App settings such as theme preference and app lock settings
•Optional PIN credentials stored as a salted hash
•Images that you choose through the Android system picker for note card backgrounds
•Files that you choose to import as CardNote backups
•Exported files or note card images that you choose to share
Data collection and sharing
CardNote does not require an account.
CardNote does not collect your personal data on a developer server. CardNote does not sell your personal data. CardNote does not include advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs.
Your notes and settings are stored locally on your device. When you choose to export, import, or share content, CardNote uses Android system features so you can choose the file or recipient app. After you share data with another app or service, that app or service handles the data under its own privacy practices.
Images, files, and sharing
If you choose a background image for a note card, CardNote receives access to the image you selected through the Android system picker. CardNote uses that image to render the card preview or exported card. CardNote does not scan your photo library and does not upload the selected image.
If you export a note, export a backup, or share a card image, CardNote creates a temporary local file and shares it through Android's sharing system. The temporary file is used to complete the action you requested.
If you import a backup, CardNote reads the file you selected and imports compatible note data into the local app database.
Backups and device transfer
CardNote's current Android backup rules exclude the local notes database, app settings, and temporary shared files from Android cloud backup and device transfer. This means CardNote does not intentionally copy your notes, app lock settings, or temporary share files into Android backup through its app backup configuration.
If this backup behavior changes in a future version, this Privacy Policy and the Google Play Data safety form should be updated before release.
App lock
CardNote includes an optional app lock. If you enable PIN unlock, CardNote stores PIN credentials as a salted hash in local app settings. If you enable biometric unlock, Android's biometric system performs the authentication.
The app lock is intended to reduce casual access to the app on your device. It is not a claim that note content is end-to-end encrypted or protected from all device-level access.
Data retention and deletion
Notes remain on your device until you delete them. Deleted notes may remain in trash until you permanently delete them, restore them, clear app data, or uninstall the app.
You can delete app data through Android system settings or uninstall CardNote to remove local app data from the device, subject to Android system behavior. CardNote cannot delete files or copies that you exported, shared, or stored outside the app.
Children
CardNote is not designed specifically for children. CardNote does not knowingly collect personal data from children on a developer server.
Security
CardNote does not transmit note data to a developer server. Local data security depends on your device, Android OS protections, screen lock, backups, and the apps or services you choose when sharing exported content.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when CardNote changes. The updated version should include a new effective date. Before publishing an app update, the Google Play Data safety form should be reviewed so it remains consistent with this Privacy Policy and actual app behavior.
