The principle of the shield is to provide a protective covering to a 2-wheeler scooter in
case of rain or scorching sunlight. Convertible type shield offers an automatic
experience to the rider where he can detach the box which has the complete assembly
whenever he like so, it not only provide a shield but it is convenient to use. It would not
disturb the ideal design of the scooter as it is and external unit which will be fitted with
the help of nuts and bolts. When we talk about comforts in car, it offers roof but unlike
cars the scooters do not have such feature. So adding a roof to the 2-wheeler will
provide the rider an experience to be rain free and sunlight free on the road as in the
rain the efficiency of the 2-wheeler is lesser than the four. So a person who is reliable
on 2-wheels only, this is a boon for them.
Problem identification, Stakeholders feedback, Need analysis, Objectives, Goals, Scope, Features.
Desired problem Specifications: Constraints (Must-have) & Criteria (Desirable/ may-have) with one measured specification.
Product survey (any existing similar product(s) solving/near the problem + their patent survey)
3 design concepts (minimum) which solve the specific problem, in any form of hand sketches or rough CAD. Selection of one concept through a weighted matrix method against the desired problem Specifications (Constraints and Criteria)
Preliminary design of main components of the selected concept (analytical design calculations and rough CAD)
CAD work based on preliminary analytical design calculations of milestone 2
CAE (Computer Aided Analysis - of frame/chassis, optimization of part geometry and selection of materials.
Animation, kinematic and dynamic analysis using CAD CAE SW)
Iterative system design (from standards, safety, ergonomics, manufacturing, assembly, maintenance, environmental impact, and other criteria)
Design report
Manufacture/Manufacturability of part(s), manufacturing plan.
PPT, Report, Recorded Video (3-5 mins), website, Logbook, reflection on the validation of the design.
