Cape Elizabeth Community Gardens

Cape Elizabeth has two Community Garden locations with a total of 90 plots. The gardens are located next to the Gull Crest fields and at Maxwell’s Farm on Spurwink Avenue.

Gardeners use organic methods, and in addition to tending their own plots, spend additional hours during the season on general garden duties.

In each garden, vegetables are grown in several plots for the Maine Harvest for Hunger program. Produce goes to Judy's Pantry, serving Cape residents with limited resources, and named in memory of Judy Simonds, one of the garden founders.

Registration for 2024 is closed.

There is currently a waiting list. If you are interested in a garden plot, please send your contact information and garden location preference, if you have one, to smok77@maine.rr.com.

The Cape Community Garden at Maxwell's Farm is an organic garden located on land owned by Dan and Imelda Maxwell on Spurwink Avenue. It is located behind the former farm stand now occupied by the Ocean House Child Development Center. The Community Garden consists solely of its member gardeners and is coordinated by the Garden Committee.  In addition to member plots, the garden has two plots dedicated to growing fresh produce for Judy's Pantry and Maine's Harvest for Hunger program.

The Cape Community Garden at Gull Crest is an organic garden located on land owned by the town adjacent to the Gull Crest athletic fields off Spurwink Avenue. In addition to member plots, the garden has space dedicated to growing fresh organic produce for Judy's Pantry, named for one of the garden's founders. Judy's pantry supplies local produce to Cape Elizabeth families with limited resources. The garden is managed by its members and its Garden Committee.
