1. Introduction
Welcome to the Privacy Policy for CAO Launcher ("we", "us", "our"). This policy describes how we collect, use, protect, and share information when you use our Android launcher application (CAO Launcher, the "Application").
By using the Application, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
2. Information We Collect and Access
To provide the features of CAO Launcher, we may access or collect the following types of information:
List of Installed Applications: We access the list of applications installed on your device to display them and allow you to launch them from the launcher. This information is processed locally on your device and is not sent to our servers.
Device System Information (Processed Locally):
Battery Status: We access the battery level and status to display this information in the Application's widgets.
RAM Information: We access information about your device's total and available RAM to display this information in the Application's widgets.
Storage Information: We access information about the total and available storage space on your device to display this information in the Application's widgets.
Network Information (Wi-Fi/Cellular): We access the type of active network (Wi-Fi, Cellular, Ethernet) and the name of the Wi-Fi network (SSID) you are connected to in order to display this information in the Application's widgets. The Wi-Fi network name (SSID) is processed locally and used only for display.
Notification Content (Only with Your Permission): If you enable the notification management feature, the Application will use the Notification Access permission (NotificationListenerService) to access the content of your notifications (including title, text, originating application name, and other metadata). We do this solely to display, group, and manage your notifications within the launcher interface, as requested by you. This notification content is processed locally on your device, is not stored by us long-term, nor shared with third parties.
Usage and Diagnostics Data (Via Firebase):
We collect anonymous information about how you use the Application (features used, frequency of use, UI interactions), information about your device (model, operating system version), and crash reports.
We use third-party services provided by Google, specifically Firebase (including Firebase Crashlytics, Firebase Performance Monitoring, and Firebase Analytics), to collect and analyze this information. The purpose is to understand how the Application is used, identify and fix bugs, and improve overall performance and stability.
These services may use anonymous or resettable identifiers (such as the Android Advertising ID or Firebase installation IDs) to collect this data. For more information on how Google collects and processes data through Firebase, please review Google's Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy) and the page on How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services (https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites).
User Preferences: If the Application allows customization (themes, layouts, etc.), we store your preferences locally on your device.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we access or collect for the following purposes:
To Provide Core Launcher Functionality: Displaying and launching your applications, showing system information (battery, RAM, storage, network), and displaying/managing your notifications (if the feature is enabled).
To Operate and Maintain the Application: Ensuring the Application functions correctly.
To Improve the Application: Analyzing usage data collected via Firebase to understand user needs, improve existing features, and develop new ones.
To Diagnose and Fix Technical Problems: Using crash reports collected via Firebase Crashlytics to identify and fix bugs and crashes.
To Personalize Your Experience: Applying your locally saved customization settings.
4. Sharing Your Information
We DO NOT sell or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share information in the following limited circumstances:
With Third-Party Service Providers: We share anonymous usage data and crash reports with service providers like Firebase (Google) that help us operate and improve the Application (data analysis, crash reporting, performance monitoring). These providers are obligated to protect your information and may only use it for the services they provide to us.
For Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, subpoena, court order, or other legal process, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request.
Business Transfers: If CAO Launcher is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will provide notice of any change in ownership or uses of your information.
We DO NOT share the content of your notifications with third parties.
Information collected through third-party services like Firebase may be transferred to — and maintained on — computers located outside of your state, province, country, or other governmental jurisdiction where the data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction.
5. Data Security
We value your trust in providing us your information and strive to use commercially acceptable means of protecting it. We implement reasonable technical and organizational security measures to protect against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction of the information we process. However, remember that no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure and reliable, and we cannot guarantee its absolute security. Information processed locally (like the app list, preferences, notification content) remains on your device.
6. Data Retention
Locally Processed Information: The list of applications, system information, and notification content are accessed and processed in real-time to provide launcher functionality and are not stored by us long-term. User preferences are kept locally as long as the Application is installed.
Usage and Diagnostics Data (Firebase): We retain anonymous usage and diagnostics data collected via Firebase for the time necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this policy, or as determined by Google's retention policies for Firebase services.
7. Your Rights and Choices
Notification Access: You can enable or disable the Application's access to your notifications at any time through your Android device's "Notification Access" settings. If you disable access, the notification management feature will cease to function.
Uninstallation: You can stop all collection of information by the Application by easily uninstalling it using the standard uninstall procedures for your device.
Privacy Rights (e.g., GDPR, CCPA): Depending on your location, you may have additional rights regarding your personal information, such as the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your data. To exercise these rights, please contact us using the information below.
Analytics/Advertising ID Opt-Out: You can reset your Advertising ID or opt out of personalized advertising through your Android device settings. This may limit the collection of some data by Firebase Analytics used for usage analysis.
8. Children's Privacy
Our Application is not intended for anyone under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children. If we discover that a child has provided us with personal information, we take steps to delete it. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
9. Links to Other Sites
The Application may contain links to other sites or services (such as the links to Google/Firebase policies). If you click on a third-party link, you will be directed to that site. Note that these external sites are not operated by us. Therefore, we strongly advise you to review the Privacy Policy of these websites. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy in an accessible location (link in the Play Store and/or within the Application). You are advised to review this Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted.
