Canvas Attendance Exporter is a browser extension that adds an "Export Attendance Roster" button to Canvas course roster pages, letting instructors generate a printable attendance sheet (Excel, PDF, or direct print).
When you click the export button, the extension reads student names, emails, and IDs directly from the Canvas roster page already open and loaded in your browser: the same information you can already see on that page as a signed-in instructor. It does not log in to Canvas, does not use any Canvas API or credentials, and does not access any page or data beyond the one you are currently viewing.
The extension saves two small pieces of information locally in your own browser, using the browser's built-in extension storage:
The list of Canvas domain(s) you've added in the extension's settings page
The date range and class days you last used, so you don't have to re-enter them every time
This information stays on your device. It is never transmitted anywhere.
None. The extension makes no network requests of any kind. Roster data is read from the page, turned into a spreadsheet or PDF entirely inside your browser, and saved directly to your computer (or sent to your printer, for the Print option). Nothing is uploaded, logged, or sent to the developer or any third party.
The extension bundles three open-source libraries (ExcelJS, jsPDF, jsPDF-AutoTable) to build the exported files. These run locally in your browser and do not make network requests or transmit any data on their own.
The extension only activates on Canvas domains you explicitly add via its settings page. No domain is granted access automatically — each one requires your direct action and your browser's own permission confirmation.
