I have a 70d. I've recently got 8nto macro using the old non-IS 100MM 2 8 lens. Today I found out the delights of using the CCC app to step focus for stacking. It's a bit slow but works fine for the most part except for one annoying thing that I can't figure out. When using the MF function to bracket focus for stacking the app will only focus in one direction. There are three pairs of arrows for stepping the focus forward or backward in differently sized increments. The arrows to the right of the shutter button work fine but the arrows to the left don't do anything.

I was running on the original firmware so thought it might need an upgrade but that made no difference - I'm now running 1.1.3

I haven't tried a different lens so might do that tomorrow but was wondering if anyone had any ideas.

Running Android 11. Have reconnected multiple times, turned the camera on and off, removed and reinserted the battery. Rebooted the phone and reinstalled the CCC software.

Can't think of anything else to try....

To be clear in my mind - are you saying that if you focus close and select the right arrow the lens will step towards infinity, but if you focus far and select the left arrow the lens won't step towards the camera?

At times, the Canon Camera Connect application for iOS may behave incorrectly when attempting to connect an iOS device to a camera via Wi-Fi. Deleting the app's saved state in the background can oftentimes correct this. This does not harm the app or the device and simply causes the app to launch with a default "state", which can eliminate many issues that prevent the app from connecting to the camera and performing correctly.

4. Re-launch the app.

NOTE: If the Canon Camera Connect app is not performing properly or the camera does not remain connected when attempting to connect with Canon Camera Connect, always attempt to delete the saved state of the app BEFORE uninstalling and re-installing the app and before doing a hard re-boot of the device. This should be troubleshooting step #1 when troubleshooting Canon Camera Connect.

I have also tried the easy connection guide and also just trying to connect and it is the same result. It always finds the camera but when prompted to select how many images to view when just connecting it gives connection failed after I select all images or any of the other options, the easy connection guide is the same when selecting all images or even just today same old connection failed.

The integrated wifi cards in all cameras are weak, and painfully slow, even in close proximity to the router. The only thing that works reasonably well is an external wifi adapter, like the one you can get for the 1dx2.

How much distance from the router are you talking about? Granted, the Wi-Fi in camera bodies can be slow, but I have not ran into a distance issue when using my camera. Wi-Fi is not slow because of distance. It seems to be by design.

I did some more research and it says that if I go over 1000 images it can give me this connection error but I had more than 5000+ images on the card and I was able to connect and use it even much after 1000 images had been passed.

Anyways the new SD card I have now is working and it connects just like it should. Thanks for the patience and provinding some alternatives to my problem. I hope that others that may be facing such an issue will not just try resetting the wireless settings and reconfiguring the connection instead try a different SD card if your SD card has a lot of data and or is an older card.

Just as an aside, I have always found the simplest, fastest, and most hassle free transfer method is to get a card reader. SD card readers for the Apple Lightning connector are readily available, inexpensive, and totally reliable. Unless you use and need some of the remote functions offered via a WiFi connection, just get yourself a card reader for future transfers.

Hi! I own canon eos 5d iv, and been using camera connect app before with no problems. However after it was updated recently, I can't finalize the connection with my camera. I arrive to the step where I need to register new camera and choose the connection (just like in the pic), I can see my camera on the phone, but there are any options to finalize this step. When I close the window, it asks to register new camera again. I tried to uninstall and reinstall the app, reboot and restart my phone, delete all camera settings- nothing changes

A recent update to iOS added Wi-Fi Assist that has been affecting the connection between our cameras and CameraConnect. That auto switches to whatever network is available, but that can prevent the camera connection from getting established.

the problem is that in Camera connect app I can't move forward from the "Wi-fi connection" window, when it shows that I am connected to my camera (its name is displayed there). I switched off automatic switch to mobile internet in my android. But no changes.

Any ideas how I can make it work?

I agree with shadowsports. Let's reset the wireless settings on the camera to factory defaults and use the camera generated name for the network (camera access point). Delete the previously shown "network name" for the camera from your phone's WIFI selection menu and then retry.

The main reason why phones want to drop the Wi-Fi hotspot created by the camera is because the camera does not provide an internet connection. However, the phones will only drop the camera if you allow it do so.

Yes, the 2.x software had an ongoing issue for five years where it would just stop recording data (turning the logging off) randomly during the day. I posted an update to that old topic, and then started this topic about a completely different and worse issue in the new 3.x version of the app. The other topic had nothing to do with any camera - just the app. This issue could be some incompatibility with the app and the G5X. I have no other Canon equipment to test it with, but at the request of Canon Support I am collecting data for them.

I have a 6D2 and R5 C. The 6D2 has built in GPS. The R5 C no, but I've tested the 3.x CC app and it passed GPS info to the camera successfully. I haven't tested the duration or tried to look at the data. This was why I asked about your camera model. I'll do more testing with the R5 C and App and see what I can find out for you. Probably won't reply again until tomorrow. Have a late report today and will be working into the evening.

I'm sorry to hear you are having issues with the GPS tagging. Did either your camera or phone get powered off or go into sleep mode? If either device was powered off or went into sleep mode it would drop the connection. If the connection is dropped it would need to be re-established to get start tagging photos again and any photos taken when the connection was dropped would not get tagged.

The app was started up in the morning, and was still logging at night when I got back to the hotel. I would download the GPS tracks in to the camera. EVERY photo received a GPS location, but they were all the same location.

Is there only ONE log? e.g If I start logging on my phone, take some pictures in one area then stop the logging. Then I move to a new location start the logging on my phone, take some pictures and stop the logging. Would the app know about both location logs i took? If i were to try and push the location info would it know about both logs and correctly update both groups of photos? This is pretty important for me because when im going out i won't be anywhere near wifi and my camera (powershot s120) dosen't have NFC. It's not realistic for someone to begin logging in the morning and then end it at night, constantly polling GPS has to kill the battery life very quickly.

It is important, when using the logging feature, to have the time set correctly on your camera because Camera Connect matches your phone logged time to each photo to establish the gps location of the photo. Keep in mind, when traveling to a different time zone, your phone's time will be automatically changed to the new time zone and you will need to manually change the time on your camera to the new zone.

When you start logging on the phone app (Camera Connect), time-stamped gps data is stored on your phone. You can start/stop logging multiple times and the "logged" data is retained on the phone (No "un-logged" data is stored). That means you can turn logging on while you take some photos, turn it off for a while to save your phone battery, and then turn loggong on again later to take more photos. When you then send location information to your camera via the app, gps data will be added to all your photos taken while the logging was in effect. It is unclear if the logging buffer is cleared when you send the location info (I hope so) or if the buffer justs keeps collecting data.

Once you have connected your iPhone to the camera, launch CameraConnect. Then select Location Information -> Begin Logging to start collecting logging info on your phone. You can now disconnect the iPhone/camera connection (It will automatically disconnect when you turn you camera on to take photos). When you are done done taking photos then reconnect to your iPhone & launch CameraConnect again and in Location Information select Send Logging Information to insert the gps information on each photo taken while logging. If you select Images on Camera in CameraConnect, all photos with the gps data will have a small satellite icon in the top left of the images shown. Note that if you use CameraConnect to transfer the images to your iPhone, the gps data is not transferred (Come Canon, this should transfer gps data). You have to transfer the images off the SD card to get the gps data to your iPhone, tablet or PC. 2351a5e196
