So starting last week at some point, Apple Music on my iPhone seems to have just stopped working. It refuses to play anything that is not in my library, nothing from "For you", "Radio", or any saved Apple Music Playlists.

Yup that's exactly what mine did. I finally got Apple Music to play music again by Erasing all settings and content and then NOT restoring my iCloud backup. Total pain and not really a solution but I guess it will have to do for now.

Cannot Download Apple Music From Google Play

I have the same issue and I can play anything I purchased, whether downloaded or in the cloud, but I cannot play anything from Apple Music. I can download songs, but then I get a dialog box about the song not being authorized rather than the silent fail and "Not Playing" status I get if I try to stream it from Apple Music.

This is a really detailed reply and I really appreciate that! I was thinking of doing the same thing with the console but you beat me to it. It definitely seemed like something locally was screwing it up too, as it's so fast to NOT play the music that it seemed like it was too quick for any kind of network request to be telling it to not play.

Whether you want to listen to your favorite music or download songs from Apple Music, you're bound to run into problems now and then. However, there could be various reasons why you're experiencing a specific issue in the first place.

If you canceled your subscription to Apple Music or iTunes Match, your music library is removed on all of your devices except for the device your music library is stored on. Any music, including playlists, that you added or downloaded from the Apple Music catalog is also removed.

The new HomePod Minis did need to be updated, but that didn't solve the problem. I did all sorts of things, like restarting the HomePods, removing them from Home and then re-adding them, making sure I was correctly logged into Apple Music, turning off my phone. Eventually it started working for most playlists, except for the biggest playlist I have, which really is probably too big. I'm wondering if there was some sort of iCloud syncing thing that took time. But I'm not sure.

I'm seeing the same problem, as well as an issue where the phone orientation will occasionally cause only part of the widgit to be visible. Killing the app that was playing music (or video) has no impact on this.

Update: I reset my phone and went to a meeting. When I came out, the music player was on my lock screen. No bluetooth, no media was played. It just appeared. My next step is to delete the music app and reinstall it. But I think I'll lose all my playlists. ?

If you have tried all of these steps and are still unable to play music on Apple Music, it may be helpful to contact Apple Support for further assistance. They will be able to help you diagnose and troubleshoot the issue.

Before the update, as all we, I used to sync my iPod Classic and play music from it in iTunes, but yesterday I just updated to macOS Catalina and found the surprise that when I connected my iPod to the computer and tried to play a song from it, it just does nothing, nothing happens, also there's not right click to song, cannot sync playlists because it says it'll delete everything and so on, and I've been syncing my iPod with the same computer since Sierra, I mean, is the same Library, what happened? Did iPods just lost support with Catalina?

So established that with finder and music app is no possible to manage the ipod, how is possible to play songs on the ipod or playlists contents with the mac, now that itunes doesn't exists? Any of you has the same question? Does someone use an alternative application to manage and listen ipod music with a mac?

Issues here as well. My iPod classic shows on the sidebar of the new Apple Music program, but does not show up in a finder window. I used to simply drag the recently downloaded music (album) icon from the iMusic window the the Classic in the sidebar to copy files. Now nothing happens when I try to do that. Catalina and Music are a drag in this respect. I hate that options are going away. Terrible!

I have same problem with both my iPod Classic and newer iPod touch. The music library on the iPods show in Finder (not in Music), the playlists do not show, and I cannot play a song when I click on it. Was on the phone for HOURs with Support 10 days ago, they wrote up a ticket, came back the next Monday and took a video of my screen, and that was all I heard. Today is Thursday. They act like this is a problem unique to me, which it obviously is not.

Same issue here. I cannot manage my music on my IPOD classic with the new MUSIC app in Catalina as I was able to do before with Itunes. I cannot play music from my Ipod through the new MUSIC APP neither. I have been manually managing the music on my IPOD classic for years, never sincing directly with a playlist or music library in ITUNES.

For general info- In my case the problem is definitely linked to the files. I get this error message on some of my albums - I will get the message when I try and play the album in my library through the Sonos app, although the same track will play through the Apple Music app via airplay. Also If I search for the song/album in Apple Music via the Sonos app it will play fine, and I can solve the problem by deleting the album from my Library and adding it back in again.

We understand that when you are playing music on your iPhone and you open Facebook, the music will stop playing. The first thing to understand is that Facebook is also an app that can play music or sound content and the iPhone is not able to play music or sound from two different apps at the same time.

If you open Facebook and navigate to a post that has sound content, look for the small microphone icon in the corner of the image. If the icon shows the small sound arcs from the speaker symbol, it is set to play sound. Even if the sound is not currently playing.

On my wife's iPhone 6s Plus her apple music won't play any songs. We use the same Itunes account and it works fine on all my other devices - just can't use the music at the same time. But my wife keeps getting "Your Apple ID is only valid for use in the US store" well yes, that's right, doesn't sound like an error to me. Whats going on anyone know?

Thanks for the info, but this didn't work. She is unable to play any music even though she is using the same ID as me. The problem is only occurring on her iPhone, all other devices work fine. This is how it is setup:

Thank you for your response. I do back up on a regular basis. The songs are on my tablet and play fine. They won't play on my Iphone or Ipod. I do understand that Apple music isn't a back up service I use a different source for music and photos. So what you are saying is I can't listen to all of my music on my devices because I tunes doesn't carry those songs anymore? Shouldn't I get a refund since I paid for those songs? I guess I was confused on what a "Purchase" was.
