Minnesota Statute 120B.20 "Each school district shall have a procedure for a parent, guardian, or an adult student, 18 years of age or older, to review the content of the instructional materials to be provided to a minor child or to an adult student and, if the parent, guardian, or adult student objects to the content, to make reasonable arrangements with school personnel for alternative instruction."

Grade 3 Reading: 36.1% of students are proficient, which means 62.9% of Cannon Falls Students are not.
Grade 11 Math: 36.6% of Cannon Falls Students, are Proficient, and 62.4% are not.
Grade 8 Science: 26.9% of Cannon Falls Students, are proficient, and 72.1% of students are not.
We need change.
The Minnesota legislature seeks to have every child reading at or above grade level no later than the end of grade 3. Minnesota Statute 123B.12 Subd. 1. Schools, at least annually, must give the parent of each student who is not reading at or above grade level timely information about their proficiency, services, and strategies available. Note the District Advisory Committee - which in Cannon Falls is the Curriculum Committee - and the requirement that "Parents and other community residents are to comprise at least two-thirds of advisory committee members, when possible." Currently, there are interested community members who want to be on the committee.
Board appointments must be by resolution
Minnesota Statute 123B.09 Subd. 5b. "The appointment shall be evidenced by a resolution entered in the minutes and shall be effective 30 days following adoption of the resolution, subject to paragraph (b)."
