Things of Japan I love

First Prize

I’m Lily Wang, a grade 12 student from Richmond Secondary School. I have been in love with Japan ever since I watched my first anime in elementary school and begin learning the language on my own in order to be able to sing the anime’s opening theme songs. I was inspired by my summer trip to Tokyo to create this video. Because it was my first time to see the country with my own eyes, I was deeply astonished by all the extraordinary things around me. This video was created to show some of the most attractive aspects of Japan and its people.

Welcome to JAPAN!!! Lily Wang, Richmond Secondary School

Second Prize

初めまして!I am Silva Baiton, a third-year English student minoring in Asian Studies and Japanese. I love many aspects of Japanese culture, and I’ve had a special interest in Japanese literature since middle school. While thinking about possible topics for this video project, I was suddenly struck by how many of the books I had read dealt beautifully with the subjects of change and transition. The three novels I introduce in this video are a few of my favorites, and works that especially show a sense of loss and nostalgia, but of hopefulness as well. I really enjoyed exploring this subject and I am so grateful to have been given this opportunity. ありがとうございました。みんなさん、お疲れさまでした!
