第二回カナダ日本語ビデオコンテストは予定通り無事に終了しました。ほぼすべての行事の進め方は第一回からそのまま受け継ぎました。作品募集、審査対象の選出、審査と発表など、去年の経験があるだけに、いずれもスムーズに執り行わました。

ビデオ作品の応募件数は、第一回と比べてほんのわずかに増えたことだけは、いささか残念でした。だが、作品が送られてきた地域は、去年よりずいぶんと西へと広がり、言葉通りのカナダ全土に亘るものとなりました。作品の内容を見ても、大学上級生から日本語入門者までの視線が豊富に込められ、とりわけ継承語として日本語を覚えようとする小学生の参加は特筆したいです。やればできる、日本語を自慢にしたいという気持ちが伝わり、それがどこまで開花するか、頼もしいかぎりです。

今年も、国際交流基金から助成をいただき、加えてSFU賞、カルガリー大学SLLLC賞、クリエィティブアワードを提供してくださった機関や個人に心から感謝を申し上げます。

The 2nd Canada Japanese Video Contest has completed. This year, we proceeded the entire event by following what we established the last year. From calling for entries, selecting video works for review to judging and award announcement, very little changes were made. With the successful experience from the last year, the event went smoothly.

It is little disappointing that the total number of entries increased rather minimum. However, video works were submitted from the west to the east, literally across Canada. The content of entries well represented fresh interests of students, from beginners to advanced. We are extremely happy to see a few even from elementary students who are learning Japanese as their heritage language. We hope that, through this experience, they learned a lesson that "we can do it", and much more, to be proud of their language skill in Japanese.

We truly appreciate the special support from Japan Foundation, Toronto, as well as those who provided SFU Prize, University of Calgary SLLLC Prize and Creative Award.
