We also see you have an Apple Watch series 7 from your post. As you have a compatible model, the latest version is watchOS 8.3. You can verify this within Settings > General > About. Here's a link that'll show how to Update your Apple Watch.

Hello, today I changed my watch from Apple Watch 5 to Apple Watch ultra and since I started using it, I don't have the FB Messenger app, I can use it on my previous watch, what happened? how to fix it?

Can You Download Messenger On Apple Watch

Hmmm - you'll need the app installed/configured on your phone. Then you can enable the app to get installed on your Watch. I have the latest (412.0) which syncs between my phone and watch just fine. I hadn't realized the product might be short-lived, I've transitioned most of my Messenger-like tasks to WhatsApp which works great on phone/watch...

You're misdirecting your angst. This was Facebooks decision, not Apple's. Complain to Facebook. You'll still, by the way, be able to get Notifications on your watch. You just won't be able to open messages or reply on your watch. And let's be honest. Typing on the tiny keyboard on Apple Watch, when you likely have your iPhone nearby just shouldn't be a significant issue.

You do, by the way, have 14 days from date of purchase to return the watch. Before you do, you better check with Facebook to see if they provide support for Messenger on any other brand watch. I'd be surprised if they do.

Messenger (FB Messenger)? You can install apps onto the watch via the Watch app on your phone. Once installed it should work. You can confirm the presence of the app on the watch by scrolling through your list of installed apps directly via the device.

Thank you for your response. My problem is that the messenger app is not syncing with my AWU2. The messenger was installed in my iPhone but not available in my watch. That's the reason why I'm.not receiving notification.

I was pretty confused at first but then searched this sub and saw a post from a couple months ago that said the app would be removed after May 31. Strangely my app stayed on my watch for almost 2 months.

Posts shared on social media carried a screenshot of a notification sent to a handful of users in recent days informing them that Messenger won't be available as an Apple Watch app after May 31, but that users would continue to get Messenger notifications on their watch.

Some users on Facebook suggested it could be because allowing users to respond to messages on their wrist reduced the amount of screen time spent in Messenger on their smartphone. But the app joins a long line of other third-party services that have pulled watchOS development over the last few years, either due to perceived redundancy or lack of user uptake. Other notable Apple Watch apps that have been discontinued include Twitter, Instagram, Target, Trello, Slack, Hulu, and Uber.

Bloomberg's Mark Gurman believes that the move is an admission that an iPhone-like app experience "doesn't always make sense on a watch" since "Apple Watch apps have barely caught on." However, due to being a radical departure from the app-centric experience existing Apple Watch users are used to, Apple may make the new widget-based interface optional.

News of the change comes a day after the company confirmed that WhatsApp, another Meta-owned messaging app, will be available as an app for Google's Wear OS. So if you own a Google Pixel Watch, Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 or other smartwatch, you'll be able to send WhatsApp messages from your wrist.

While more and more apps leave Apple Watch, Apple is expected to bring what could be a major change to its wearable with watchOS 10. That could bring less focus on third-party apps with a new widget-based UI.

Clearly Meta and Apple do not always get along, and there are reports that Meta is about to release a WearOS version of WhatsApp. That said, Meta is not alone in dropping app development for watchOS. Uber, Slack, Google apps (all but Keep) - all gone.

But now Apple is trying something different. As part of watchOS 10, the company is planning to bring back widgets and make them a central part of the interface. This new strategy will debut at WWDC in June, alongside the unveiling of iOS 17, macOS 14, the 15-inch MacBook Air, and, of course, the much-anticipated mixed-reality headset.

Remember, most SAR actions are not initiated by satellite messengers, meaning most SAR teams work without precise location data. So the upshot of satellite-messenger-enabled cell phones? More lost/injured hikers with precise data to give to SAR teams means quicker missions and less wasted money and human power, not more.

In the near future, smartphone technology will continue to advance, and Silicon Valley will continue to tap into the outdoor market with new products. As this happens, we may begin to see some ultralight backpackers ditching dedicated satellite messengers completely in favor of smartphones, just as we now see some members of our community ditching dedicated cameras in the same fashion.

Sometimes even after installing the app correctly, the Messenger app can fail to load on the Apple watch. Instead of loading, you get a black screen with a loading wheel on it. The cause of this problem is unknown but it is a common one that can be fixed by resetting the Apple Watch among other solutions we'll see shortly.

AppleInsider said: ...but you can still get Messenger notifications on your watch."

Eh. This is about all I care for. Not need, not want. I don't "need" anything from FB, and it is a constant battle to convince myself to dump it. There's entertainment value in it, but it comes at a price.

Posts shared on Twitter show off the same screenshot of an Apple Watch notification signaling that the Messenger app will no longer be available after 31 May, though accessing notifications will still be possible from the smartwatch.

With the watchOS 10 reveal seemingly just around the corner - and reportedly set to provide the most significant change to the operating system since it first arrived - it's possible Apple is sitting on a plan to arrest some of the watch's app store decline.

It's been suggested in rumors that widgets will be a headline addition through watchOS 10, for example, working similarly to Wear OS Tiles, and this could prove to be more accessible for both users and developers. We won't know for sure, of course, until WWDC 2023 in early June.

I think this is a real shame, because since 2015 I've been using the app multiple times a day; messaging is one of the core strengths of the best smartwatches and cutting off access to Messenger is going to make me use the service a lot less.

It's interesting timing when Meta is simultaneously bringing WhatsApp to wearOS: it seems that the problem isn't the size of the device but the operating system and App Store it runs. And Apple's rules are at odds with Meta's business model: Apple prohibits trackers and has very strict policies on advertising. The rules are detailed in the App Store guidelines: ads "should not be included in extensions, App Clips, widgets, notifications, keyboards, watchOS apps, etc."

If you are an Apple Watch user who has gotten used to responding to Facebook Messenger alerts via your timepiece, there's some bad news coming your way. Starting May 31, 2023, you will no longer be able to use several features of said app on your smartwatch. This is because Facebook is pressing ahead with plans to delist the Facebook Messenger App from the WatchOS App Store. Once the app is removed, new Apple Watch users will no longer be able to download the app onto new WatchOS-powered devices, a MacRumors report confirms.

While Meta has refrained from revealing the reason behind its decision to stop developing the Messenger App for the smartwatch, there is a good chance that lack of popularity of these watch-specific apps did play a role. What is also undeniable is the fact that Facebook has joined a long list of tech firms that have recently pulled the plug on their respective Apple Watch apps. Some of the more famous removals on the WatchOS platform include Slack, Trello, Twitter, Instagram, and Hulu.

I currently have a zoom phone number and would like to know if it is possible to answer calls using my Apple Watch. Currently I'm only able to see messages on my watch, but can't seem to find a way to enable calling.

The reason our company uses none of the Zoom chat features is that it doesn't work on the boss' watch. Just FYI, in case anyone at Zoom is reading. Further problems include persistent lack of integration with Mac contacts. Oh, and then there is ergonomics... I guess we all realise that competing against a free Microsoft app has its challenges, but I can't begin to fathom how hard it must be if you leave 20% (Mac) market share lying around and ignore the needs of the decision makers. (Didn't mean to rant, but just feeling very sorry for Zoom.)

Yes, this is honestly ridiculous. I hate that I can't even be notified if it's ringing. I don't even care if I can't actually use my watch to talk, I just want it notifying me right away that it's ringing. It is the only time in which I need to take my phone off of silent. I need it to hear a Zoom call coming in. Otherwise I always have everything on silent. Signal, Messenger, etc, they all at least notify you when a call is actively coming through. I hate that the only thing it notifies me of is when a call has been missed. Very helpful. Please let my watch notify me when a call is ringing!

How is it that incoming Zoom instant messages show up on my Apple Watch but incoming call notifications do not? I don't even care if I can't actually answer the call on my watch but not to be notified is ridiculous. I probably miss at least one Zoom call a day because of this.
