I recently got a new router (Virgin Media Hub 3.0, firmware version 9.1.116.608) and now my Chromecast only works with certain apps on both mine and my friend's Android phones. We had a Virgin Media Hub 2ac previously which worked fine.

I bought a brand new Chromecast with Google TV (to replace one no longer working because the remote was defective) and go through the whole set up process, everything is on the same Wifi network, the remote is working etc, but the apps just won't load. For every single app the message just says "download pending". I have reset to factory settings 3 times and just back to the same place each time. It spends half an hour saying that it's downloading the apps, but then nothing actually downloads.

I am really sorry to hear that your new Chromecast with Google TV is having issues downloading apps! This issue can be pretty frustrating, so I would be happy to help out. First, I would recommend that you read and follow the steps listed in this article.

The reference apps listed here are those that comply with theGoogle Cast Design Checklistand follow Google Cast development best practices. Use these appsas a starting point when developing your app for Google Cast.

Using a Chromecast device is a simple and inexpensive way to cast your favorite apps to your TV screen. There are hundreds of popular Chromecast-enabled apps, so Chromecast users are definitely spoiled for choice. You can have your pick of movie and music streaming apps, sports, games and photo apps. Read on to learn more about the best Chromecast apps.

The Chromecast-Prime Video pairing is supported by both Android and iOS. As with the other apps, you can open Amazon Prime Video in a Google Chrome browser and cast from your computer. Find out how to unblock Amazon Prime around the world.

The following is a partial list of apps with Google Cast support, and the platforms on which each can run. The first Google Cast receiver released was Google's Chromecast in July 2013; a digital media player in the form of an HDMI dongle, the device streams media wirelessly via Wi-Fi after a selection is made through a supported mobile or web app, such as those listed below. Unofficial Google Cast receivers followed, before Google released a second official receiver, the Nexus Player, in November 2014.

* = PC-compatible (computers running Windows, macOS, Linux, or ChromeOS) web apps cited here require the Chrome browser, with the Google Cast extension[1] installed, and have support for casting built into the website itself, without the need for "tab casting."

I have been using the MyCloud App to stream to Chromecast, but it no longer is working. I select the Chromecast and it show the name of the movie on the tv screen and then Western Digital shows on the screen an the movie does not load. I have tried on two different devices and two different tvs and both have the same outcome.

I have reinstalled the app on my phone, I have rebooted the chromecast and I have also rebooted the My cloud.

Open the all cast app, select the relevant player (in this case chromecast). Then from the menu, select the media server option. It will then find your WD cloud device, select the video file and voila!, the file will play through the chromecast. It will only play certain types of files though, for example .mkv are not supported

Looking to block apps on a new Google Chromecast all apps would be great but haven't been able to block AppleTV, HBOMax and ESPN. I've put appletvplus and hbo into our blocked apps rule but they still open and able to be accessed.

Are you able to identify specific IPs/domains the chromecast should have access to? I'm thinking you could try and create a security policy with the chromecast as the source IP and limit the destinations.

If you're attempting to use this solely as a casting target could you just deny access to the internet in it's entirety? Might have to play around a bit with the allowed domains to get enough traffic to pass to trick it to thinking it's connected possibly, but assuming you don't want the apps to work anyways that's a potential path forward.

When casting to chromecast from My ignite tv app, its constantly shutting down. Its consistently 2 or 3 times per recorded show. Ill have to shut down the toshiba tv with chromecast built in to restart it then launch app on my Samsung s21 . I thought it may have been the tv but if i cast YouTube or prime or netflix or Google chrome i have no issues, only happens with ignite tv app.. very frustrating for the price i pay for cable.. ive uninstalled and reinstalled the app no difference. What is the issue? Thx

This has been discussed numerous times in the forum. The IgniteTV app is not fully compatible with built in Chromecast, only Chromecast devices (external to the TV). If you search this forum for Chromecast you'll find a number of threads on the topic. Some people have managed to get it working with TV apps, but most not.

Netflix is one of the best Chromecast-enabled apps. Tossing a TV show from your phone or mobile device is as simple as hitting the Cast button, and the results are near instantaneous. Offering hundreds of TV shows and movies as well as some of the best original programming this side of a premium cable subscription, Netflix should be your first stop on the road to building your Chromecast app collection.

As a standalone streaming service like Netflix and Hulu, HBO Now unshackled itself premium cable packages, allowing users to watch shows like Game of Thrones and Silicon Valley without buying a whole cable package. After its short, three-month exclusivity contract with Apple came to a close in August 2015, it rocketed to the top as one of the best Chromecast-compatible streaming apps out there. All that said, if you've got a cable subscription with HBO already, HBO Go is still a fantastic functioning Chromecast app, too.

Google Play Music is the ultimate player for anyone heavily invested in the Mountain View company's audio store. Able to stream tunes from your library as well as from a massive catalog of on-demand music, Google one-ups the competition by adding Chromecast support to its iOS and Android Google Play Music apps.

AllCast is the Swiss Army Knife of Chromecast-enabled apps. AllCast offers an all-in-one way to take movies, music and pictures from your small screen and shoot it to your dongle. The free version slots in a few annoying ads and limits video length to a few minutes, but for frugal streamers it's the easiest, most effective method to taking your content from your mobile device to the big screen.

Do the same for Chromecast built-in as well. After uninstalling the updates, unplug your TV's power cord, leave it for 30 seconds, and plug it in again.

After this reset, update the two apps above to the latest version from the Google Play store.

Now everyone can enjoy movies together on the big screen with AirBeamTV Mirror for Chromecast. Stream movies, watch workouts, or catch the latest episode of your favorite shows. Watch videos and stream apps from your phone to all Chromecast devices in perfect quality and audio.

The device is configured correctly, so that is not the problem. But out of 15 mobile apps (I have the latest versions installed on both my S23 Ultra and S8 Tab Ultra), only two (YouTube and Netflix) are showing the option to cast to The Freestyle. All of the apps can cast to my Chromecast (including HBO Max, VLC, Prime Video, LinkedIn Learning and more)

@StarflakeOne: I'm not too sure what could be causing this limitation, although it may be the case that you are required to have the relevant apps installed on the Freestyle in order for the casting option to show up. As a workaround, you may wish to head to Home > Media > Apps, and download the applications directly to the Freestyle. You also have the option of swiping from the top of the screen to the bottom on your S23 Ultra or Tab S8 Ultra, and utilising Smart View to mirror the contents of the app from your mobile devices to the Freestyle.

Thank you so much for your answer. Installing the apps to The Freestyle was not helping to being able to cast unfortunately. However, the Smart View is an option I can live with as a workaround as the micro-HDMI port will be used with my Xbox Series S.

Chromecast devices enable users to stream (cast) content from their smartphones, tablets, laptops or desktop computers to a television with an available HDMI port. The newest generation of Chromecast -- Chromecast with Google TV -- extends these streaming capabilities by providing a user interface for running apps directly on the Chromecast device. Chromecast with Google TV also includes a Bluetooth remote that provides Google Assistant voice control.

Earlier Chromecast models did not include the user interface or support local apps, nor did they provide a remote control. They were used strictly to stream content from other devices. Google no longer sells Chromecast devices without Google TV.

Google currently offers two Chromecast with Google TV models. The first is the HD version, which can stream up to 1080p HDR, and the other is the 4K video resolution version, which can stream up to 4K HDR. The HD version costs $29.99 and the 4K version costs $49.99. A wide range of streaming apps are now available for Chromecast, including Netflix, Hulu, Peacock, YouTube, Spotify, PBS, BBC News, Apple TV and many others.

To set up a Chromecast device, users need to install the Google Home app on their iOS or Android devices. The device must be on the same Wi-Fi network as the Chromecast device. After the setup is complete, users can then use the Google Home app to manage and control Chromecast and stream content. Users can also configure settings, manage streaming apps and stream content directly through the Chromecast interface. In addition, they can use voice commands to control Chromecast and choose which content to view. ff782bc1db
