Sharing official IELTS scores is easy. You can request to send your scores to your chosen organisation(s) through the booking portal. Organisations will specify how they prefer to receive official IELTS scores: either through postal mail or via IELTS Results Service e-delivery. Please note that IELTS Online results can only be officially shared with organisations via the IELTS Results Service e-delivery.

Please contact your chosen organisation(s) to confirm how they prefer to receive IELTS scores (postal or e-delivery). You should also ask your chosen organisation to confirm their address (for postal delivery) or account name (for e-delivery).

All IELTS scores are between 0 and 9. You can also get .5 scores as well (for example, 6.5 or 7.5). You will get a band score for each skill (listening, reading, writing and speaking) and also an overall band score. The overall band score is the average score of all the skills. See the table below as an example.

As explained on the IELTS website, overall test results are calculated to the nearest 0.5 or nearest whole band score. This means if the final score is not a precise 7.5 (as shown in the table above), your score is pushed to the nearest whole score or half score depending which is nearest. Below you can see examples of how this works according to IELTS:

IELTS Test Report Form or IELTS TRF is an official copy of your IELTS result. It remains valid for two years. This certified documentation of your IELTS outcome could be both electronic (eTRF) or paper copy (paper TRF). Get to know about the latest updates on the IELTS Exam, Eligibility, Preparation Tips, Test procedure, Exam Pattern, Syllabus, Registration Process, Important Exam Dates, and much more!! This guide is a one-stop solution for every IELTS Aspirant who aims to crack the exam with an impressive band score.

You will get the TRF (test report form) as a paper copy through mail delivery. This happens 13 days after the date of the IELTS paper test. You will get it 5-7 days after your computer-based IELTS testing date. You should wait for at least 7 working days in order to get delivery. Taking the IELTS examination on the computer will help you get the results within 3-5 days of appearing for the exam. The results will be shown as scores in the 0-9 bands. You can also ask for an enquiry on results (remark) within a period of 6 weeks from the date of the test. This entire mechanism will need 2-21 days on average. If the band score is changed, then you will get a refund on the fee paid for requesting the remark.

The calculation of the IELTS score card takes place through a specific system. The band score is the average of the four scores that you have obtained in the speaking, listening, writing and reading sections. These are rounded off till the nearest half or whole band. For example, if you get 6.1, then the score will be rounded off to 6.0. Scores up to .25 will be rounded till the corresponding half band and those ending in .75, the score will be rounded up to the next band.

As the deadlines for application submissions are closing in, I had a question regarding the TRF form sent to universities from IELTS website. I have sent my IELTS score to every university I am applying to and on the website it is showing the scorecard has been processed, but on the application portal of most of my universities, it showing : did not receive official score card. I am just wondering could this be an issue if the college does not receive my ielts score card before the final application deadline ?

Along with these minimal requirements, admission decisions are based on a number of factors, including academic degrees and record, written statement of purpose, letters of recommendation, test scores, and relevant work and research experience. All admission recommendations are made by each individual program or department.

When you register for any tests, you should indicate the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Graduate School (institution #5816) as a score recipient. If you did not specify the UNC-Chapel Hill Graduate School as a score recipient at the time of taking the test, you must promptly ask ETS to send your scores to us (institution #5816). No departmental code is required.

Please note: If you submitted your official test scores to UNC-CH with your application, expect a minimum of seven business days for your test scores to be matched to your application.

If you have taken, or plan to take, an official test more than one time and wish for additional scores to be available as part of your application review, you must request that each set of official scores be sent to the University. All valid, official test scores that have been sent to the University will be available as part of the application review process.

If you already hold, or are in the process of earning, a research or professional doctorate degree, you may be exempted from the standardized test score requirement. This waiver request must come to The Graduate School directly from the academic program to which you are applying. An unofficial transcript showing degree awarded, or degree in progress, will be required for final approval of this exemption by The Graduate School. Please contact your intended academic program to determine if they will support this exemption.

It is your responsibility to monitor your application for completeness by logging into your application and checking your application status. If your official test scores do not appear as received within two weeks of submitting your application, please email gradadmissions@unc.edu.

Together with the instructions above, international applicants are also required to submit official TOEFL or IELTS scores as part of their application. The Graduate School understands it is difficult and sometimes confusing to apply to universities in another country, and we will assist you in clarifying requirements whenever possible.

All international applicants must submit acceptable, official TOEFL scores (reported directly to school code #5816 from ETS.org) or IELTS scores (reported directly from IELTS.org, either by mail or electronically to The Graduate School). We do not accept TOEFL MyBest scores, Duolingo, or other English language proficiency tests.

When you register for any tests, you should indicate the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Graduate School as a score recipient. If you did not specify the UNC-Chapel Hill Graduate School as a score recipient at the time of taking the test, you must promptly ask to send your scores to us. While self-reported scores are useful for informal evaluation, the official report of your scores must arrive before final review and admission can be offered.

Your application must be submitted and paid for ETS computer-based official scores to match to your application. Score reports are sent to Purdue University electronically, approximately 10 to 15 days after your test date. Once ETS has sent your score report, it may take an additional 2 to 3 weeks or longer for your application checklist to update and show received.

Official IELTS and IELTS Indicator test scores can be uploaded to your applicant status portal after application submission under IELTS Score Report, sent electronically to the Purdue University Office of International Admissions, or the hard copy score report can be mailed directly to the Office of Graduate Admissions.

To be valid for admission, English proficiency test scores (TOEFL, IELTS, and Duolingo English Test) must be no more than two years old at the time the recommendation for admission is received at the Graduate School. 006ab0faaa
