CHRISTIAN ASTURIZAGA
Violinist
Christian Orlando Asturizaga has been awarded the medal of "Honor to the Cultural Merit" a recognition and tribute given to a meritorious personality of the Plurinational State of Bolivia because of his contribution to the Bolivian culture. He is the concertmaster of the National Symphony Orchestra of Bolivia, director of Cámara Musical "CAMUS". He was the director of the National Symphony Orchestra of Bolivia and Professor of “Violin”, ensembles and improvisation at the Bolivian State University in La Paz: Universidad Mayor de San Andrés (UMSA) where in addition of teaching and conducting research he served as mentor for his undergraduate students thesis dissertations. He has also served as professor at National Conservatory of Bolivia, director of Chamber Music of the Bolivian Private University (UPB). He has been invited to make dissertations at Peru and France.
As a soloist he has performed with the National Symphony Orchestra of Bolivia, Symphony Orchestra of the UMSA, Sinfonieta Loyola, Symphony Orchestra of El Alto, Chamber Orchestra of La Paz, Chamber Orchestra of Bolivia, Chamber Orchestra of Los Andes and Symphonic Orchestra of the Bolivian National Conservatory of Music. He cultivates an intense activity of chamber music, forming several ensembles such as the Quintet "Strauss" Duo "Osaky-Asturizaga", Quartet "Bigart", "National Symphony Quartet", Ensemble "Musafolia", Ensemble "Intermezzo", Chamber Ensemble of "Nuevo Mundo" Ensemble "Caleidoscopio", Ensemble "CAMUS", "Camerata del Sur", etc. His artistic experience is extended and enriched for his work in popular genres especially in Violin Jazz and World Music.
As arranger, producer, director and composer, Asturizaga articulates CAMUS projects in collaboration with several artistic mainly in Musical theatre field, but has also coordinated and directed ensembles to collaborate with internationally renowned artists such as Zoe, Diego Torres and Marco Antonio Soliz, joining their tours in Bolivia, Finally, he has recorded and performed with major national music groups such as Música de Maestros, Kalamarka, Wara and Donato Espinoza, performing several tours of Asia, Europe, America and Bolivia. He has also recorded for films (El Atraco, Corazón of Jesus, Yve Maray, etc.), music for string quartet from the Bolivian composer Santiago Illa and several collaborations with Bolivian groups.
He has represented Bolivia in several orchestral projects with international involvement such as the World Youth Symphony Orchestra at Interlochen, the Youth Orchestra of the Andean Countries and The Orchestra of the UNASUR, as well as national projects that have allowed him to participate in concerts in Switzerland (1993, 2010), United States (1994, 2001), China (2001), France (2005, 2010), toured South America (1999, 2000, 2002, 2009.2014), Europe (2010) and Bolivia.
On the other side. Asturizagahas studied at the National Conservatory of Music (Bolivia), the Conservatory of Morges (Switzerland) and the Regional Conservatory of Metz (France) under Denis Clavier. He has attended master classes with Rafael Gintoli, Roberto Rutkauskas, Javier Pinell, Joseph Shuiste, Gregori Kalinovski, Rachel Varga, Hans Ssheapeers, Stefen Tranc Gnoc, Roy Sonne, Eric Hosler, etc., and was a grant holder to attend Interlochen Arts Camp (USA). He also graduated from the music career at Loyola University where he studied conducting, composition and arrangements. Finally, in the pedagogical area, he obtained diplomas of specialization in higher education from the Universidad Mayor de San Andrés (UMSA) and the Cordillera University (UC).
