About Camp Applause
Great Bridge Theatre Company's presents: Camp Applause a summer camp for rising 3rd through 9th grade students. Participants will take part in a variety of classes including acting techniques, improvisation, and theatre games. Two options are available: Acting or Technical Theatre. At the conclusion of the week, parents and friends are invited to enjoy a production of short drama pieces.
Camp Applause Information
Who: Rising 3rd through 9th grade students
What: Students can register for the Acting Track or the Technical Theatre Track.
When: Monday, June 24 - Thursday, June 27, 2023
Times: Monday - Thursday from 8:00am-1:00pm. A camp-wide performance for friends and family will begin at 12pm on Thursday.
Where: Great Bridge High School located at 301 Hanbury Rd W, Chesapeake, VA 23322 (campers enter at "Roy's Alley" in the front of the school)
Deadline: Registration deadline is Friday, June 7th or whenever the camp reaches capacity. Space is limited. If the camp fills prior to June 7th campers will be placed on a wait list.
Cost: $150, this cost includes a Camp Applause t-shirt. No snacks will be provided, due to allergies.
What to Bring: Campers must bring their own snacks and water bottles daily. Students are asked to wear closed toed shoes. They will be given a camp t-shirt on the first day that should be worn throughout the week.
Drop Off: Children will enter at the "Roy's Alley" entrance in the front of the school. Parents should accompany their children into the building to check-in on the first day. There will be a short info meeting on this day for parents.
Pick Up Policy: Children must be picked up by someone listed on the registration form. Pick up is promptly at 1pm. After 1:15pm a late pick up fee of $10 per 15 min increments will be charged.
Refund Policy: If you need to cancel a registration please do so in writing. Cancellations prior to 6/12 will receive a 75% refund. Those which are prior to 6/19 will receive a 50% refund.
Health & Safety: Medical information will be collected upon registration. Please make special needs or concerns known. Note that this camp is a nut free zone.
Volunteering: We cannot hold the camp unless we get enough Adult volunteers. If you would like to volunteer, please email GBHSCampApplause@gmail.com or call 757-641-0200.

Camp Applause Tracks
The Acting Track
The Camp Applause Acting track will offer five classes each day, including Improv Games, Technical Theatre, Dance, and Performance. Within these classes campers will be preparing to perform a production of short drama pieces. Students will be challenged to memorize lines and blocking as they gain experience on the stage. Additionally, campers will enjoy warm up activities that encourage expression, articulation and focus.
The Technical Theatre Track
The Technical Theatre Track is only available to students in rising 5th through rising 9th grades. This group will join the Acting Track at the beginning of each day for warm up activities that encourage expression, articulation and focus. These students will then prepare sets, props and practice scene changes for our Thursday afternoon production. This is a great option for students who enjoy theatre but may not feel comfortable performing.
Registration
To register one or more students for Camp Applause (June 24-27, 2023) please complete the 2024 Registration below:
Do not make payment until you receive a confirmation email stating that your child has been accepted into camp.
All payments will be processed via the school’s online payment site. This link will be sent to you in the confirmation email.
If payment is not received by deadline your child will forfeit their space in camp.
The registration deadline is 05/05/2024 but we do expect to exceed our capacity quickly.
A waitlist will be kept.
You will receive an email receipt confirming your payment and your enrollment.
