I am an Assistant Professor in the Applied Computer Science department at the University of Winnipeg. My research interest focuses on applying machine learning, statistical models, and signal processing techniques to develop methods that extract insightful patterns, thus aiding in the decision-making process. My previous research includes applications for providing affordable fetal monitoring, identifying redundant laboratory tests at intensive care units, protecting children from unhealthy-food advertising, and validating neuromarketing principles.

Before joining the University of Winnipeg, I was a postdoctoral associate for two years at the University of Calgary. I received my Ph.D. in Computers Science with a Biomedical Informatics concentration from Emory University (Atlanta, GA, USA). Before my doctoral studies, I received my Master of Science in Informatics and my Bachelor of Science in Software Systems Engineering from Universidad Icesi (Cali, Colombia)
