I am a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Economics at Birkbeck, University of London. I received my PhD from the University of Edinburgh. Prior to my doctoral studies, I worked as a Research Manager at IFMR-LEAD in India and as a Project Associate with Innovations for Poverty Action in Mali.
My research focuses on identifying key drivers of growth and economic transformation in low-income countries. Within this broad agenda, I use experimental and quasi-experimental methods combined with high-resolution data from satellite imagery, web scraping, and household surveys. My work examines (i) the effects of infrastructure expansion (including banking access and groundwater irrigation), mining booms, and the adoption of new technologies on rural economies, and (ii) how these economic changes interact with electoral politics.Â
