Describe the HIP experience (was it ePortfolio, Undergraduate Research, Study Abroad, Domestic Study, Community-Based Learning, Internship, Publication, Writing-Intensive, Common Intellectual Experience?)
How does the HIP meet the following requirements: 1) considerable time and effort required (typically a semester or longer), 2) facilitated learning outside the classroom, 3) meaningful interactions between faculty, staff, students, or community partners, 4) collaboration across disciplines and cultures, 5) frequent and meaningful feedback and guidance from mentors, staff, faculty, peers, 6) reflective and integrative learning opportunity by documenting and reflecting on the HIP experience in ePortfolio, 7) public demonstration of competence through publishing or presenting.
Describe the learning material, source, the people (staff, faculty, students, community), the interactions, etc. Describe the learning experience that stands out in your mind. Who was there? What did they say/do? What happened? What did you say/do?
Add any additional info, photos, or evidence of your HIP. You can do so by clicking on 'Insert' located on the right tab, and click on the option that best allows you to upload your HIP (Text Box, Image, Youtube, Google Drive, Google Docs, Forms, Charts, Sheets, Slides, embed URL, etc.) Note: If you want to upload images and documents, it is best to upload it to your Google Drive first and then use the 'From Drive' option.
Please base your reflection on the questions below and don’t be afraid to be vulnerable and elaborate throughout your reflection!
What did you learn from the experience? How were you different from when you left than when you entered? How did the experience challenge your assumptions/expectations? What ways does this experience connect to what you have read, learned, or can you relate this to your lived experiences and identity? How can the experience apply to other aspects of life? How can the experience apply to your general education courses at SLCC? How does the experience apply to the learning outcomes of your courses or gen ed learning outcomes? How can the experience apply to your professional, academic, or personal goals and aspirations? Where can you go from here? What is the next step?
