In 2018, Cameron Heights participated in Edmonton’s Vacant Lot Program.
The City loaned nineteen planters to Cameron Heights. Donated vegetables, herbs, and flowers were planted, managed and harvested by members of the community. The pilot was a great success and was well received by residents. A Garden Party with 65 + attendees celebrated the initiative.
Based on the positive feedback and rewarding experience of the pilot garden, the Cameron Heights Community Garden Committee is exploring establishing a permanent community garden. There is ample public land in the community for a garden plot. The Committee is requesting feedback in the form of a survey. Your responses are important to ensure that a permanent garden meets the needs of the community.
