About the Regatta

The Cambridge Regatta began in 1909 when it was founded by the Cambridge Rowing Association, over time the event grew to rival the annual Henley Regatta. It was held in the original format until stopping in the 1990s. In the last two years Cantabrigian Rowing Club have been reestablishing this event.

Cantabs have built on the heritage of the past to place the Cambridge Regatta back on the national rowing calendar. Extremely successful regattas have been held in the last 3 years.

In 2018 Cantabs are aiming to increase the size of the event still further to include more clubs from across the region and further afield in the UK. In addition, clubs from mainland Europe will also be invited to participate. This follows Cantab’s participation in events such as the Budapest International Regatta, Warsaw Head and events in Germany.
