Effective date: July 31, 2026
This document outlines our approach to gathering, utilizing, and safeguarding your data when you interact with the CALVERIN TYPEWORKS mobile application (referred to as the "Service"). Your continued engagement with the Service signifies your agreement to the terms detailed within this Policy.
The summary is short: CALVERIN TYPEWORKS collects nothing. The Service is a single-user typography reference that runs entirely on your device, requires no account, works offline, and sends no data anywhere. The sections below describe that in full.
We do not collect, request, or receive any personal information. There is no sign-up, no login, no online profile, and no account of any kind. We never ask for your name, email address, or any other contact detail in order to use the Service.
We also do not automatically gather any of the following:
Device identifiers, advertising identifiers, or IP addresses
Location, contacts, microphone, camera, or photo library data
Usage statistics, behavioural analytics, or crash reports
The Service contains no cookies, no tracking pixels, and no comparable tracking technology. It does not display advertising, does not participate in any ad network, and offers no in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Everything the Service records is written to your device's local storage and stays there. This covers the field notes you write, your bookmarks, the sections you have marked as mastered, your kerning attempt history, a coverage record of which faces, parts, terms and history entries you have opened, the last position of the controls on the Bench, the Grid and the Press Room, your most recent unit conversion input, your app settings (theme, guides by default, composing grid, default unit, trim unit, auto-reveal, and the notification preference), a flag recording whether you have finished onboarding, the date of first launch, and the compositor serial number.
The compositor serial is generated once on your device from a fixed character set. It is not derived from any device identifier, it is not an account, and it identifies nothing outside your own copy of the app.
This information is never transmitted to us or to anyone else. We hold no copy of it and have no way to read it. It is removed when you delete the app. The resettable portion — notes, bookmarks, mastered sections, kerning history, coverage, the saved instrument positions and the unit input — can be cleared at any time from Settings, and the reset confirmation states plainly that your settings, your serial, your first-launch date and your onboarding state are kept. Kerning history can also be cleared on its own.
Field notes are text you write yourself, attached to a typeface, an anatomy part or a glossary term. They are saved to local storage on your device and nowhere else. We never see them, they are not synced or backed up to any service of ours, and no feature in the Service uploads, shares, or publishes them. Deleting a note in the app removes it; deleting the app removes all of them.
Because no data reaches us, we do not use your data for any purpose. The information stored on your device serves one function only: to let the Service restore your notes, bookmarks, kerning history, instrument settings and progress the next time you open it.
We do not profile you, do not build audiences, and do not sell, rent, or trade information about you, because we have none.
CALVERIN TYPEWORKS uses no third-party services. There are no analytics SDKs, no advertising networks, no crash-reporting tools, and no social or tracking integrations of any kind embedded in the Service.
Consequently, no third party receives your information from us — neither in identifiable nor in aggregated form.
The Service performs no networking. All eighteen typefaces, sixteen anatomy parts, twelve kerning pairs, sixty-seven glossary entries and every reference table are compiled into the app itself, so nothing is fetched, downloaded, or checked against a server at any point. The one exception is deliberate and user-initiated: tapping the Privacy Policy row in Settings opens this page in an in-app browser view. Nothing about you is attached to that request.
We cannot disclose what we do not hold. Even when faced with a legal requirement or governmental request, we have no personal data to produce, because none is ever collected or transmitted to us.
We retain no data about you, so there is nothing on our side to keep or delete. The information held locally on your device remains for as long as you keep the app installed, and is erased when you delete the app or reset your progress in Settings.
The Service is suitable for all ages and contains no advertising, no purchases, and no online communication features. Because we collect no information from anyone, we collect no information from children — including children under 13 (or 16, depending on regional laws).
CALVERIN TYPEWORKS may ask for permission to send notifications. This is optional, it is switched off on a fresh install, it turns on only when you tap the toggle and then grant permission at the system prompt, and the Service works fully without it. Granting it transmits nothing to us. The Service holds this as a preference only: it schedules no notification, delivers no notification, and sets no badge. There is no remote push registration and no notification service extension. No other permission is requested — the Service asks for no access to your location, contacts, microphone, camera, or photo library.
We highly regard your confidence and are dedicated to shielding your information. The strongest protection we can offer is structural: data that is never collected and never transmitted cannot be intercepted, breached, or leaked from our side. Information stored locally is protected by your device's own operating-system safeguards.
No international transfers take place. Your information does not leave your device, so it is never moved to or stored on servers beyond the borders of your state or country.
The Service may open this policy page in an in-app browser view. We bear no responsibility for the content or the privacy practices of any third-party site reached from that view, and we advise you to review their respective policies.
This Privacy Policy may undergo revisions periodically. Any modifications will be published on this page, and the "Effective date" will be adjusted to reflect these changes. Your continued engagement with the Service following any updates will signify your acceptance of the revised Policy.
