Message from President Asher Dimitroff
Thank you for visiting the official website of Calumet City F.O.P. Lodge #1. Since 1937, our Lodge has proudly been comprised of Police Officers who serve in Calumet City. Every year we host a variety of events which you can see scheduled on our calendar on this site. We are a not-for-profit organization that donates money to various groups, charities, and local causes throughout the year.
In an era of unprecedented hatred against America’s law enforcement Officers, it is my duty and honor to represent the members of our Lodge. Violence against our great Nation’s protectors is on the rise and it has not gone unnoticed in the State of Illinois. We are grateful for the work being done in Springfield by our representatives in the Fraternal Order of Police. For far too long our politicians have ignored much-needed input from law enforcement in the passage of laws that affect the safety of the public.
It does not take a scholar to recognize that our communities are under attack by the lawless. After the quick and foolish passage of the so-called Safety Act, violent criminals are being released every day to continue to wreak havoc on our communities. As dedicated public servants, we find the automatic pre-trial release of certain offenders to be a slap in the face to those who work hard to capture evildoers victimizing the communities we serve. For this very reason, many of the rank-and-file police throughout the State of Illinois have left to serve in other states whose lawmakers take crime seriously. Something must change and that something needs to happen quickly before more of the members of our community become victims of criminals who should have been in jail.
Despite the insanity of current events, your local police continue to serve every day. Our Lodge is part of the National Fraternal Order of Police and we strive to continue to be proactive in our community. We were the first Lodge in the State of Illinois to become members of the Fraternal Order of Police. Please support our Lodge. By doing so, you are showing your support for the brave men and women who don a badge and gun and fight for your safety every day. God bless you, God Bless America, and God Bless our Law Enforcement Officers.
