Rules

General

The following rules also apply to all CAKE subreddits, except for those who are a part of Slice (which will be indicated if so in the Subreddit's description). Your subreddit may also have its own rules on top of these (in the event of any conflict, the subreddit rules override these). These rules may change over time, so please make sure to check back regularly.

General Rules

Make sure to use common sense when considering an action on our subreddits. If you suspect that something could get you in trouble, don't do it! You can always reach out to the moderators of that subreddit via modmail for clarification on what is and isn't allowed.
Most of our subreddits are English-speaking, so please make sure that all of your posts and comments are also in English. Non-English speakers are still welcome, but their posts and comments must be in English. You can use your browser's translation features to view content in your native language if English is not your first language.
Please read the full rules, both general and subreddit-specific, before posting. Do not attempt to use any loopholes to get around our rules. "I was joking" is not an excuse to break the rules, nor is adding "in Fortnite" on the end of a threatening post. "I didn't know" is also not an excuse to break the rules either, as our rules are clearly accessible from each subreddit.

Posting on our Subreddits

Please post content that is on-topic, unless your subreddit allows off-topic discussion.
Avoid low-quality and low-effort posts, unless the subreddit specifically allows them. Low-effort posts can clutter up subreddits and add no real value to the discussion. Make sure that all of your posts contain a body if relevant, as those without one may be considered as low-effort. Remember that titles on Reddit cannot be edited, so make sure you use a title that is relevant and meaningful, and not just "a meme I made."
Make sure that a post flair is present on relevant posts, and that it aligns with the contents of your post.
Please do not spam, this includes both posts and comments. Excessive posting in some subreddits will result in your posts being auto-removed.
We do not allow advertising in posts and comments, except for paid promotions in some of our subreddit's banners using our official advertising program.
Please refrain from posting malicious links including IP grabbers, scams, rule-breaking content (such as pornhub links), viruses/malware, etc.
You must not sell anything or host a giveaway on one of our subreddits without permission from its moderators first.

Respecting Our Members

While we understand that it is not possible to ban profanity and swearing completely, please try to refrain from it in our subreddits, allowing our subreddits to feel welcoming to more people. This also includes language that may be offensive to certain groups, such as "OMG." Posts and comments that are removed for excessive bad language may be resubmitted with altered wording to remove the use of the bad language. In some cases, our profanity filters may mistakenly remove non-rule-breaking content; if this happens to you, please contact us via modmail.
Please avoid any form of hate speech, particularly involving protected characteristics (age, gender, gender-reassignment, sexual orientation, marital status, religion, pregnancy/maternity, race, and ethnicity).
Please refrain from making toxic or intentionally-offensive comments towards an individual. If you wouldn't like it, don't do it to others.
Please avoid any political posts, unless the subreddit specifically allows it, as political posts can stir up drama among the community. We also ask that you do not discuss topics relating to personal identity, such as LGBTQ+, in our subreddits, unless a subreddit's rules state otherwise; while this content is important, it can unfortunately attract unwanted attention and hate towards those who are part of these groups.
Please do not spread rumours or misinformation in our subreddits in an attempt to mislead people.
Do not attempt to cause drama or mass-panic in our subreddits. Do not bring up drama from outside of our subreddits, or any serious drama from inside our subreddits. Do not witch hunt, contact the moderators via modmail instead if you would like to report someone.
Do not intentionally trigger or attempt to trigger any phobias or sensitivities that a person has. Please provide a clear warning when a video has flashing lights.
Do not DM anyone in our subreddit unless you know them or have their permission, as unknown DMs can make some members uncomfortable. Do not share any private DMs on our subreddits without the permission of everyone involved in those DMs.
Roleplaying is allowed, however it must be clear that you are roleplaying and you must not attempt to impersonate or mislead anyone.

Respecting Our Moderators

Our moderators are dedicated and work hard to maintain order and peace in our subreddits. That being said, any harassment that is directed towards a CAKE moderator, even if that harassment takes place outside of Reddit, will result in a ban.
Please refrain from spamming Modmail; it's a waste of time and won't make us respond any faster. If you haven't received a response within 7 days (or shorter for very urgent matters), you may repost your query or attempt to contact a moderator through an alternative platform, such as Discord or Reddit chat. Do not contact a moderator through any private chats without going through Modmail first, as some of our moderators are under 18. If you suspect that a raid is taking place, and there are no moderators who are online and dealing with the raid, please contact our moderators through as many platforms as possible until a response is received (abuse of this will result in a ban).
The decisions of a moderator are final, so do not try to undermine them. If you contact us via modmail, all of our moderators can see any discussions, and a decision may be changed if multiple senior mods disagree. If you believe that a moderator has genuinely treated you unfairly, please send a modmail to r/CakeMods (which only senior mods have access to) with a report as to what has happened and why you think it was unfair (abuse of this will also lead to a ban).
You may appeal a ban that is longer than 3 days once every 60 days via modmail up to 3 times in a year. If you harass our moderators in modmail, or spam ban appeals, you may lose your ability to appeal bans.

Illegal and NSFW Content

We do not allow the posting of any illegal content in our subreddits. This includes (but is not limited to): Sexual content involving minors, illegal pornography, content relating to drugs or alcohol, promotion of terrorism, fraud, nudes/revenge porn, epilepsy trolling, threatening communications (including doxxing), encouraging self-harm or suicide, content relating to controlling or coercive behaviour, cyberbulling, gambling/betting, content that glorifies violence, animal or child abuse, dangerous challenges or stunts, or content that encourages the use of substances. We also do not allow pornography in any form to be posted on our subreddits. Anyone who is caught posting any of this content will often be banned for at least 3 months.
Please do not discuss, or joke about, NSFW topics, unless explicitly permitted by your subreddit.
Follow Reddit's TOS at all times.
Some subreddits may have their own age ratings that are different to Reddit's; these will be listed in their rules. If we suspect you are underage for a subreddit, you will be banned until your 13th (or the relevant age) birthday.
Please do not post, joke or not, about suicide or self-harm. If we see any content relating to these topics, they will be removed and you will be redirected to a relevant helpline.
