Advertising Rules

The following rules apply to anyone who is currently, or is looking to, advertise on our subreddits. Please note that serious rule violations that occur after an ad has been listed (for example, you add illegal content to your promoted website) may result in your ad getting delisted early without a refund, to protect the CAKE brand.

Advertising Rules

1. Make sure to use common sense when advertising on our subreddits. If you suspect that something breaks a rule, don't do it! You can always reach out to us via modmail for clarification on what is and isn't allowed.

2. Do not attempt to use any loopholes to get around our rules.

3. Please refrain from using malicious links including IP grabbers, scams, rule-breaking content (such as pornhub links), viruses/malware, phishing, etc. Your linked website must not expose our users to rule-breaking content.

4. Please do not include profanity or swearing in your adverts. This includes language that may be offensive to certain groups, such as "OMG" and blasphemy.

5. Please avoid any form of hate speech in your ad, particularly involving protected characteristics (age, gender, gender-reassignment, sexual orientation, marital status, religion, pregnancy/maternity, race, and ethnicity). Please refrain from slander against an individual or group.

6. Please avoid any political references in your adverts, unless permitted by the subreddit. We ask that ads also don't include references to LGBTQ+ and similar identity-based topics, in order to protect these groups from unwanted negative attention and hate.

7. Please do not spread rumours or misinformation in an attempt to mislead people. Do not attempt to cause mass-panic. Do not impersonate an individual or organisation in order to mislead.

8. Do not intentionally attempt to trigger any phobias or sensitivities.

9. We do not allow any illegal content in our adverts or their links. This includes (but is not limited to): Sexual content involving minors, illegal pornography, content relating to drugs or alcohol, promotion of terrorism, fraud, scams, nudes/revenge porn, epilepsy trolling, threatening communications (including doxxing), encouraging self-harm or suicide, content relating to controlling or coercive behaviour, cyberbulling, gambling/betting, content that glorifies violence, animal or child abuse, dangerous challenges or stunts, encouraging dangerous or reckless behaviour, encouraging illegal behaviour, or content that encourages the use of substances. We also do not allow pornography of any form.

10. Please do not discuss, or joke about, NSFW topics in your ad. Make sure that your ad is appropriate for target age of the subreddit.

11. Follow Reddit's TOS at all times.
