Welcome to the Canadian Association of Geographers' Economic Geography Group - CAG-EGG.
The Economic Geography Study Group has members from all across Canada with over half being graduate students!
We welcome new members at any time so please contact us if interested - in 2024, we are recruiting a new steering committee so if you would like to join the committee please let us know!
The Economic Geography Study Group seeks to bring together geographers from various specializations broadly concerned with the links between economy and society, and the transformations thereof. Interests across geographical scales, from globalization to local grassroots activism, and the reflexivities across these scales, fall within the scope of the group. Specific areas of interest include, but are not limited to, industrial restructuring, gender and work, labour geographies, social polarization, and institutional geographies.
Each year the CAG-EGG sponsors sessions at the Annual Meeting of the Canadian Association of Geographers.
Our annual student paper award is presented to a student from one of our sponsored sessions (see the student paper page for details).
We also hold a public group meeting during the annual meeting and all are welcome to attend.
