Conduct forensic medical examination and assessment of sexual assault victims for both children and adults.
Physical examination with the collection of forensic evidence, photo documentation and appropriate referrals for the use in the investigation of the assault and maintains a chain of evidence for law enforcement officers.
Prophylaxis treatment of STD’s as indicated.
Pregnancy testing and prophylaxis for pregnancy, if desired.
Sexual assault counseling referrals.
Medical referrals when indicated.
Emergency room or in-hospital care when appropriate.
Suspect forensic evidence collection.
Testify in court to the facts obtained during the forensic medical examination if expert testimony is needed.
Examinations are conducted by a Certified Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) Registered Nurse and are done in a private facility, warm, cozy, clean, supportive and confidential atmosphere.
