Privacy Policy
Caffeine Wise
Effective date: 22 August 2026
Last updated: 22 August 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how the developer of Caffeine Wise (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information in the Caffeine Wise mobile application for iOS and Android (the “App”).
Caffeine Wise is built to be local-first. Core tracking, the caffeine clock, on-device analytics, and knowledge articles work without an account and without the internet. We do not operate a user-account system.
If you have questions, contact slayingcoder@gmail.com.
This Policy is written to match the App’s current data practices. If a production feature (for example ads or a live AI gateway) is enabled, this Policy covers that use as well.
1. Summary
- Account: None. You can use the App without signing up.
- Drink log, profile, and estimates: Stored on your device.
- Health platforms: Optional. Explained before any permission is requested. Not used for ads.
- Product analytics: Off unless you opt in. Event names only — never raw drink history.
- Ads: May appear in production builds. Ads never receive health, profile, or consumption data.
- Caffio AI: Optional. Some questions and scan photos leave the device only when you use a live AI feature.
- Purchases: Processed by Apple or Google. We do not receive your full payment-card number.
- Selling data: We do not sell your personal information.
2. Information processed on your device
The App stores a local snapshot on the device. This can include:
Drink log. What you log (name, brand, category, caffeine amount, serving, time). Custom drinks and favorites.
Profile and model settings. Half-life, bedtime threshold, bedtime and wake time, timezone, language, theme, notification preferences, and similar settings.
Optional onboarding answers. You may skip non-essential questions. If you answer them, the App may store flags such as age 65+, biological sex, height, weight, smoking status, heavy alcohol use, heavy caffeine use, or a sleep-disorder flag, and may derive half-life and threshold from them. These answers stay on the device unless you include them in an export or transfer that you start.
On-device analytics. Charts, streaks, and insights are calculated on the device from your log. They are not uploaded as part of that calculation.
Notifications. Reminder rules and system notification identifiers. Notification titles and bodies do not include your full dose history.
Caffio AI memory (optional). Structured habit notes (for example a usual drink or time), a short conversation list, usage counts, and an AI-credit wallet. Prompt text is not attached to product telemetry.
Knowledge articles. Bundled in the App. They are not your personal data.
Uninstalling the App, or using Settings → Your data → factory reset, removes this local snapshot from that device (subject to any copies you exported, and to device backups described below).
3. Information that may leave your device
Nothing below is required to log caffeine or use the caffeine clock.
3.1 Optional product analytics
During onboarding, and later in Settings, you can choose whether to share aggregated analytics.
If you opt in and a production analytics sink is configured, we may receive privacy-safe event names such as first open, a drink logged, export, reset, an analytics screen viewed, or an AI feature opened. We do not attach raw consumption history, caffeine estimates, or onboarding health answers.
The default sink in current builds does not send events. Consent is stored on the device until you change it or reset.
3.2 Optional Caffio AI (live model)
Many caffeine questions are answered on the device from the caffeine engine (remaining milligrams, bedtime estimate, whether a catalog drink fits). Those answers do not need a network.
If you use a live Caffio feature (open questions, drink/menu/barcode scan interpretation, or similar) and an AI gateway is configured, the App sends a limited context package to our gateway. The gateway forwards a prompt to a large-language-model provider (currently OpenAI) to generate text. That package can include:
- current remaining caffeine, today’s total, bedtime remaining, half-life, threshold, bedtime/wake time, timezone, and sleep-risk label from the engine
- the last few logged drinks (name, milligrams, local time) and a small catalog slice
- structured memories, if personalization is on
- your question text
- for scans: a compressed photo you captured or chose, used only to identify a drink or menu item
The gateway is designed to reject sensitive questionnaire fields such as biological sex, weight, and sleep-disorder flags. Caffeine milligrams still come from the on-device engine; the model is not allowed to invent doses.
We do not use AI context or scan photos for advertising.
The model provider processes the request under its own terms and retention rules. Do not include information in a question or photo that you do not want processed that way.
You can delete AI conversations, reset Caffio memory, or factory-reset the App on the device. That does not erase copies already processed by the gateway or provider.
3.3 Advertising (production builds)
In production, the App may show ads through a third-party advertising SDK. Ads are not shown in development/sandbox the same way.
Health data, caffeine history, profile answers, and AI context are not sent to advertisers and are not used to target ads.
Advertising partners may collect device or advertising identifiers, coarse location inferred by the OS or the partner, and interaction data, according to their policies. You can remove ads with the in-app “Remove ads” purchase where offered. You can also use OS-level advertising / tracking controls.
3.4 Purchases
“Remove ads” and Caffio AI credit packs are sold through Apple App Store or Google Play billing. Apple or Google processes the payment. We receive an entitlement or purchase token sufficient to unlock the feature, not your full card number. Store prices are shown by the store, not hardcoded in the App.
Restore purchases uses the same store account.
3.5 Export, transfer, and sharing (you start these)
- CSV / JSON export writes a file you can save or share. Treat it as sensitive.
- Device transfer creates a time-limited, passphrase-protected package (default expiry 24 hours) that you scan or import on another device. Camera access is used only if you scan a transfer code.
- Share image (for example remaining-caffeine artwork) uses the system share sheet. Recipients see whatever you share.
We do not upload these files to our servers as part of the feature.
3.6 Feedback
If you send feedback, your mail app delivers a message to slayingcoder@gmail.com. You may optionally include your email and diagnostics (app version, environment, locale, theme, OS). Consumption and health details are not included in that diagnostics block.
3.7 Device backups
Android may include App data in device backups if backup is enabled. iOS may include App files in iCloud or computer backups according to your device settings. Those copies are controlled by Apple or Google and your backup settings, not by a Caffeine Wise account.
4. Health platforms (optional)
You can connect:
- Apple HealthKit (dietary caffeine), and/or
- Android Health Connect (write nutrition / caffeine for today),
after an in-App explanation. The App works fully if you refuse or later revoke access.
Health data stays in the OS health store on the device. We do not upload HealthKit or Health Connect records to our servers, and we do not use health data for advertising or similar services.
Revoking permission in system Settings stops further read/write on the next status check.
5. Permissions
The App requests permissions only with a product reason, and core tracking works if you deny them.
- Internet / network: optional AI gateway, ads in production, store purchases, and opening Health Connect in the Play Store if needed
- Camera: scan a transfer QR code; optional drink, barcode, or menu scan for Caffio
- Notifications: reminders you enable
- Exact alarms (Android): timed reminders, if you allow them
- Health: optional caffeine sync, as explained before the system dialog
Camera photos used for scans are transient and compressed before upload; they are not stored as part of the caffeine log.
6. How we use information
On-device data is used to:
- estimate remaining caffeine and bedtime remaining with the on-device caffeine engine
- show your log, dashboard, and on-device analytics
- schedule reminders you turned on
- personalize Caffio on the device (memories, credits)
- honor purchases and ads-removed entitlement
Off-device processing happens only as described in section 3.
We do not:
- require an account for core features
- sell personal information
- use health or consumption history to target ads
- use Caffio prompts or scan photos for advertising
7. Third parties
Depending on what you use, third parties can include:
- Apple (App Store, StoreKit, HealthKit, device backup, notifications)
- Google (Play, Play Billing, Health Connect, device backup, notifications, advertising SDK if used in production)
- AI gateway / cloud functions we operate, and OpenAI (or a successor model provider) when you use live Caffio
- Advertising networks in production builds, if ads are shown
Each has its own privacy policy. We do not control OS health stores or store billing systems.
8. Retention
- Local snapshot: until you delete rows, factory-reset, or uninstall (plus any device backup)
- Analytics consent: until you change it or reset
- Opt-in analytics events: only if a sink is wired; event names, not raw history
- AI gateway / model requests: not stored in the App beyond short conversation and usage counters; provider retention is the provider’s policy
- Scan photos: not kept in the caffeine log
- Transfer package: held by you; designed to expire (default 24 hours)
- Purchases: store’s records plus local entitlement flags
- Feedback email: as needed to respond, then ordinary email retention
There is no cloud account for us to “delete from our servers” for your drink log, because we do not host that log. Delete it on the device, and delete any files you exported.
If we later add accounts or cloud sync, we will update this Policy and provide a way to delete server-side data.
9. Your choices
- Skip optional onboarding questions.
- Decline health, camera, notification, or alarm permissions.
- Turn analytics on or off in Settings.
- Disable or change reminders.
- Disconnect Health in the App and in OS Settings.
- Export or transfer your data.
- Factory-reset the App (requires typing the confirmation phrase).
- Reset Caffio memory independently of the full reset, where that control is offered.
- Remove ads via purchase, where offered.
- Stop using live AI features (on-device engine answers still work).
- Uninstall the App.
If you are in a region with data-protection rights (including the EEA, UK, or similar), those rights apply to personal data we actually hold. For local-only data, the practical way to access, correct, or erase it is through the App’s edit, export, and reset controls. Email slayingcoder@gmail.com for help.
We do not sell personal information. If advertising partners collect identifiers in production, use OS tracking controls and the remove-ads purchase.
10. Children
The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information that reached us (for example a feedback email), contact slayingcoder@gmail.com and we will delete what we hold.
11. International processing
The App is used on your device wherever you are. If you use live AI or production ads, processing may occur in the United States or other countries where those providers operate. Those transfers happen because you used that feature or because ads are shown in that build.
12. Medical and health note
Caffeine Wise is an informational tracking and estimation tool. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease, and it is not a medical device. Estimates are not laboratory measurements. See the Terms of Use.
13. Changes
We may update this Policy to match the App or the law. The “Last updated” date will change. Material changes that affect how we handle data will be reflected in the in-App Privacy Policy and at this URL. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Policy, except where the law requires consent.
14. Contact
Caffeine Wise privacy questions: slayingcoder@gmail.com
Please do not send health records or full drink-history files to that address unless we ask you to for a support case you initiated.
Terms of Use
Caffeine Wise
Effective date: 22 August 2026
Last updated: 22 August 2026
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and the developer of Caffeine Wise (“we,” “us,” or “our”) for the Caffeine Wise mobile application for iOS and Android (the “App”), including optional Caffio AI features, knowledge articles, notifications, health connections, ads, and in-app purchases.
By downloading, installing, or using the App, or by tapping start on the legal screen, you agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
Contact: slayingcoder@gmail.com
1. The App
Caffeine Wise is a personal caffeine clock. You log what you consume. The App estimates remaining caffeine, bedtime remaining, and related figures using an on-device half-life model you can personalize. You can view on-device analytics, read bundled educational articles, set reminders, optionally connect Apple Health or Health Connect, and optionally use Caffio AI.
No account is required for core tracking. The App is designed to work offline for logging, estimates, and on-device analytics.
2. Not medical advice
Caffeine Wise is for information and self-tracking only.
The App does not:
- diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or condition
- provide medical, clinical, or pharmacological advice
- replace a qualified clinician, pharmacist, or other professional
- measure caffeine in your blood or body; it estimates from what you log and from a model
Caffeine milligrams in the catalog may be approximate or sourced from published references. Branded values are not a lab analysis of the cup in your hand. Timing, absorption, and remaining caffeine are model outputs, not peak-lab or device-sensor readings.
If you are pregnant, trying to conceive, breastfeeding, under 18, over 65, sensitive to caffeine, taking medication, or have a heart, sleep, anxiety, or other medical condition, talk to a qualified clinician before relying on any caffeine-related decision. If you have a medical emergency, contact emergency services.
Onboarding questions are optional. You may skip them. Derived half-life, threshold, and bedtime are stored locally and can be changed later in Settings. They are not a medical limit.
Insights and copy that describe patterns (“you tend to…”, “on the days you’ve tracked…”) are associative. They are not claims that caffeine caused a health outcome.
Caffio AI may explain numbers from the caffeine engine. It must not be treated as a clinician. It may be incomplete or wrong. Engine numbers override model prose when they conflict.
3. Eligibility
You must be old enough to use the App Store or Google Play in your country and to agree to these Terms. The App is not directed at children under 13. If you are under the age of majority, you may use the App only with a parent or guardian’s permission where required.
4. License
We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the App on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use, in accordance with these Terms and the store’s rules.
You may not:
- copy, modify, or create derivative works of the App except as allowed by law
- reverse engineer, decompile, or obtain source except where that restriction is prohibited
- rent, sublicense, or provide the App as a service to others
- bypass technical limits, credit systems, or purchase checks
- scrape, bulk-extract, or republish catalog, knowledge, or Caffio content except for personal backup of your log
- use the App to develop a competing caffeine model by systematically copying our engine outputs as a product
- use the App in any way that is illegal or that harms others
All rights not granted are reserved. Caffeine Wise, Caffio, and related names and design are our marks or licensed to us.
5. Your log and responsibility
You are responsible for:
- the accuracy of what you log
- decisions you make using estimates, articles, notifications, or Caffio
- keeping export files, transfer passphrases, and shared images safe
- permissions you grant (health, camera, notifications)
We do not verify that a drink you logged matches what you consumed.
You retain whatever rights you have in the content you enter (logs, custom drinks, feedback). You grant us a limited right to process that content on your device to operate the App, and — only if you use a feature that sends data off-device (live AI, feedback email, ads/purchases as described in the Privacy Policy) — to process it for that feature.
6. Knowledge base
Articles are educational, sourced or dated where shown, and may become outdated. They are not medical protocols. Do not treat them as instructions to start, stop, or change a medication or caffeine habit without professional advice.
7. Caffio AI
Caffio is optional.
- Factual clock questions (remaining milligrams, bedtime remaining, whether a catalog drink fits remaining room) are answered from the on-device caffeine engine when possible.
- Open questions and vision scans may use a live model through our gateway. That sends limited context and, for scans, a photo you provide. See the Privacy Policy.
- Caffio must not invent milligrams or products. Recommendations should come from the catalog. If the model disagrees with the engine, trust the engine numbers shown in the App.
- Live usage may consume AI credits. Daily free allowance, if any, and credit packs are described in the App. Pack prices come from Apple or Google, not from hardcoded in-App amounts.
- Credits are a digital item for use in the App. Unless required by store rules or law, they are not a cash balance, are not transferable between store accounts, and are not redeemable for money.
- We may rate-limit, cache, or disable live AI for abuse, cost, safety, or outage reasons. On-device tracking continues.
- Do not use Caffio for medical diagnosis, dosing of drugs, or emergency advice. Do not upload photos of other people without permission, or of documents you are not allowed to share.
8. Health, notifications, and camera
Health Connect and HealthKit are optional. The App works without them. Connecting them is your choice; disconnecting is your choice. We do not use health data for advertising.
Notifications are optional. You must grant OS permission. Quiet hours and types are controlled in Settings. We are not liable if a reminder does not fire because the OS restricted alarms, battery, or permission.
Camera is used to scan a transfer code or, if you choose, a drink, barcode, or menu for Caffio. Deny the permission and those features are unavailable; logging still works.
9. Ads and purchases
Production builds may show ads. Ads never receive your health, profile, or consumption data.
You may purchase Remove ads (non-consumable where offered) and AI credit packs. Purchases are billed by Apple or Google under their terms. Restore uses your store account. We do not hardcode store prices.
Refunds, billing disputes, and family sharing follow the store’s policies. If a purchase cannot be verified, the App may withhold the entitlement until restore or verification succeeds. A local flag alone (for example “premium = true” without a store token) is not a valid entitlement.
10. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- interfere with the App, gateway, or other users
- probe, overload, or abuse the AI gateway
- submit unlawful, infringing, or harmful content in feedback, scans, or prompts
- impersonate us or misrepresent estimates as clinical results
- use the App to provide regulated medical services to patients
11. Third-party services
Apple, Google, health platforms, advertising partners, and the AI model provider are independent. Their terms apply when you use their services. We are not responsible for outages, permission UIs, or policy changes of those platforms.
12. Disclaimer of warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the App is provided “as is” and “as available.” We disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that:
- estimates equal laboratory or wearable measurements
- catalog milligrams match a specific serving you bought
- Caffio or articles are accurate, complete, or appropriate for you
- the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available in every country
- notifications will always arrive on time
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers. In those places, warranties last only as long as required by law.
13. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or caffeine-related health decisions, arising from the App or these Terms, even if we were advised of the possibility.
Our total liability for any claim relating to the App is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the App or in-app items in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) fifty US dollars (US $50), except where the law forbids that cap.
This does not limit liability that cannot be limited (for example, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud, where such a limit is void).
If you are a consumer in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another place with mandatory consumer protections, those rights remain. You may have statutory guarantees that these Terms cannot override.
14. Indemnity
If you use the App in a way that violates these Terms or the law, you will defend and indemnify us against claims, damages, and reasonable legal fees arising from that use, to the extent permitted by law. This section does not apply where prohibited for consumers.
15. Changes and termination
We may update the App and these Terms. The “Last updated” date will change. If you do not agree to an update, stop using the App and uninstall it.
We may suspend live AI, ads, or the App if required by law, store rules, or abuse.
You may stop using the App at any time. Uninstalling deletes the license for that copy. Local data is removed as described in the Privacy Policy, except for backups and files you exported.
Store terms continue to govern your relationship with Apple or Google.
16. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable to the operator of Caffeine Wise, without regard to conflict-of-law rules that would apply a different law, except that:
- mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence still apply
- the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply
If a court finds a section unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
17. Apple and Google
If you downloaded the App from the Apple App Store, you acknowledge that these Terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support. In the event of a failure to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple for a refund of the App purchase price (if any); to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple is not responsible for addressing claims relating to the App (product liability, legal or regulatory, consumer protection, or intellectual property). Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of this clause and may enforce it.
Google Play’s terms apply to distribution and billing on Android.
18. Entire agreement
These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement for the App, and supersede prior terms for the App. Store terms and third-party terms apply to those parties’ services. No waiver is implied by a delay in enforcement.
