Colloid Assembly Engineering
Summer School 2018
Riva del Garda, Italy, September 9th - 12th
Colloid assembly, be it desired or undesired, plays a role in countless applications. These range from catalysis to solar panels, passing through bioimaging, biomaterials, insulating materials and chromatographic supports. Further fields of application are crystallization, fouling, protein aggregation and art restoration.
In the present School, Colloid Assembly is discussed from an engineering perspective, focusing on i) the mechanisms and rates which lead to assembly, ii) the experimental, and iii) the modeling techniques available to quantify colloid assembly.
The Summer School is open for registration to Ph.D. students and postdocs as well as to industry researchers and affiliates.
The program is designed to be at the same time of practical relevance, while providing theoretical background. Lectures are alternated to exercise sessions, dealing with concrete calculations and the utilization of the discussed theoretical background.
Gathering researchers from academia and industry allows both sides to appreciate the point of view and the perspective of the other, while establishing grounds for possible future collaborations.
