The Kudremukh trek in Karnataka is a thrilling 22 km round-trip journey through the lush Western Ghats, taking roughly 8 hours to reach. It involves walk through misty & dense Shola forests, rolling grasslands, wide-open green meadows, a 3-kilometer steep climb featuring steep ascents and several stream crossings often demanding high physical endurance.

Standing at 6,214 ft, Kudremukh (meaning “horse face” in Kannada) the third-highest peak in Karnataka, offers one of the most scenic & breathtaking 360-degree view from the top where clouds drift below your feet and nature surrounds you in its purest form.

📋ITINERARY

⛰️ Day-0 (Saturday, 13 June)

All Routes Lead to Kudremukh

📍 Coimbatore participants:

08:30 PM - Report at Coimbatore Junction Railway Station.
09:30 PM - Board the West Coast SF Express (Train No. 22637) towards Mangalore Central.

📍 Chennai participants:

12:30 PM - Report at Chennai Central Railway Station.
01:25 PM - Board the West Coast SF Express (Train No. 22637) towards Mangalore Central.

📍 Bangalore participants:

10:00 PM - Report at Kempegowda BS Terminal 2A - Bus station.
10:20 PM - Board KSRTC bus towards Kalasa.

Train ticket (for participants joining from Coimbatore & Chennai).
KSRTC Bus ticket (for participants joining from Bangalore).

Meals: Dinner.

⛰️ Day-1 (Sunday, 14 June)

Arrivals, Homestay & Waterfall Evening

Bangalore participants arrive at Kalasa by 5:30 AM.
Coimbatore & Chennai participants arrive at Mangalore Central railway station by 6:00 AM.
Proceed to the homestay near the Kudremukh range.
After lunch at the homestay, visit a nearby waterfall for a relaxing dip, followed by visiting to few local spots.

⛰️ Day-2 (Monday, 15 June)

Adventure Trek day

Early breakfast, followed by a jeep transfer to the trek base camp.
Packed lunch will be provided by the homestay to carry during the trek.
Report at the base camp and begin the trek.
After completing the trek, return to the homestay, refresh, and begin the return journey.

Departure Details

Coimbatore & Chennai participants:
- Travel to Mangalore Central Railway Station.
- Board the West Coast SF Express (Train No. 22638) at 11:45 PM towards Coimbatore & Chennai.
Bangalore participants:
- Travel to Kalasa Bus Station.
- Board the KSRTC bus towards Bangalore at 10:15 PM.

End of the Trail

07:30 AM – Arrive at Coimbatore Junction Railway Station
04:00 PM – Arrive at Chennai Central Railway Station
06:45 AM – Arrive at Kempegowda Bus Station, Bangalore

Participants joining from:

- Coimbatore: ₹8,900
- Chennai: ₹10,200
- Bangalore: ₹8,300
- Mangalore: ₹7,100

If you prefer 2AC Sleeper coach:

- there will be an additional cost of ₹660 to their trip cost for Coimbatore participants.
- there will be an additional cost of ₹1,230 to their trip cost for Chennai participants.

If you prefer Non AC Sleeper:

- there will be a reduction cost of ₹1,130 to their trip cost for Coimbatore participants.
- there will be a reduction cost of ₹1,930 to their trip cost for Chennai participants.

(Non-Ac Sleeper is not a recommended option because of the cleanliness issue, still if preferred by participants we will check for availability and book)

- All local transportations
  - Van - To & fro Mangalore railway station (₹1,000) (excluded for Bangalore participants)
  - Taxi - To & fro Kalasa bus stop (₹500) (Only for Bangalore participants)
  - Jeep - To & fro travel from the Kudremukh trek start point, homestay to the waterfalls (₹800)
- Train/Bus ticket
  - Coimbatore participants: To & fro 3AC sleeper train ticket (₹1,900)
  - Chennai participants: To & fro 3AC sleeper train ticket train ticket (₹3,200)
  - Bangalore participants: To & fro Non-AC KSRTC Sleeper Bus (₹1,830)
- Trekking fees to Karnataka Forest Department (₹600).

- CAC trip leader charges and their expenses (₹800)

❌ Exclusions:

- Meals which not mentioned in inclusions (₹250 per meal for basic local food).
- Cost incidental to any change in the itinerary/stay, ill health, roadblocks, landslides, floods and/or any factors beyond control.

IMPORTANT NOTE

- Any future increase in the trek fee by the Karnataka forest department will be collected from the participant. Currently it is 600Rs per head, and we have included this amount in the trip cost. We will keep the prices transparent and will share the latest prices listed on government websites if there is an increase. Karnataka Forest Department is revamping its treks, and we foresee a increase in trek costs, all over Karnataka.
- Any drastic increase in fuel prices due to war / economic instability may increase the transport cost. The additional transport expenses arising due to such instances will be collected as surcharge from the participants. This is applicable only if Diesel prices go above Rs.100.
- We do not foresee any train price hikes.

📝GENERAL INFO

➡️ Basics:

- Total number of slots: 13.
- Age group: 18 to 40.
- Gender ratio: To encourage female travellers, we will ensure that there is a min of 40% female participants.
- We will be booking your train tickets & all other transportations.
- Local transportation will be by non-AC Van.
- This trek is conducted with official permission from the Forest Department, and a guide will accompany us throughout.
- Strictly no alcohol or smoking at any time during the trip.
- First preference for solo participants and couples are welcome to register. The total number of couples in the trip will be limited to one.
- Generally, we don't allow group participation in any of our trips. However, you are permitted to bring along one of your friends or a family member with you.
- Group registrations of more than 3 persons will most likely get rejected.
- Mobile Connectivity: Very little mobile network through Airtel & Jio in homestay. No network during the trek.
- Weather: Between 15°C - 27°C.

➡️ Accommodation:

- Accommodation is homestay with separate rooms for men and women.
- Triple/Quad sharing rooms for female participants and dormitory for male participants.
- Hot water facility will be available at the accommodations, however expect power failures in forest regions during monsoons, that can interrupt hot water access.
- Please note that customized food options will not be available. However, you’ll get to experience authentic local cuisine, so we encourage you to enjoy the local flavors of Karnataka during the trip.
- Please note that we will be staying in a pure vegetarian homestay. Strictly no non-veg food will be allowed, including eggs.
- Strictly no alcohol or smoking at any time during the trip.

➡️ Transport:

All train tickets will be booked by CAC for participants joining from Coimbatore and Chennai, and bus and cab will be booked for Bangalore participants.
Participants joining and departing from Mangalore on their own are requested to arrange their travel accordingly and keep at least a 2-hour buffer to avoid any unforeseen delays.

➡️ Things to carry:

Participants will need to carry tiffin boxes (compulsory steel or glass and avoid plastic boxes) so that the homestay will pack your lunches in it.
Mandatory - Any Govt. issued ID card (preferably Aadhar).
Trekking Shoes and slippers.
Rain Jacket (mandatory, unless you want to enjoy the monsoons),
Umbrella (helpful when you walk around the homestay),
Cap and sunscreen to protect yourself from sun.
Any energy snack and reusable water bottle.
A small bag during the trek to carry snacks and other essentials.
Mosquito repellent.
Sanitizer spray (it will help to remove leeches easily).
Toiletries.
Note: A detailed things to carry list will be shared 2 weeks before the trip.

Trek Difficulty: Difficult for regular trekkers and very difficult for first timers.
Trek Distance: 22 km to be covered in 8 hours (complete trek distance).
Note: Kudremukh receives heavy rainfall during the monsoon season, and the government may occasionally impose restrictions on certain activities. Such situations are beyond our control. In such cases, we may either reschedule the trip or continue as planned and arrange alternative activities.

➡️ Selection criteria:

- Selection for the trip will be at the complete discretion of Coimbatore Adventure Club. Please send us the payment only if you get a confirmation from us. We will be keeping 50:50 ratio for repeating participants and new participants. Here are some of our criteria:
- New participants:
  - Solo participants will get first preference.
  - Or if you have a referral from our previous participants.
  - Or if you have registered for some other trip with us and didn't get a slot.
- Repeating participants:
  - Preference will be given if you have engaged us in your social media posts/stories
  - Or if you have referred us to someone.

Invitation and Selection Process: Once registered, shortlisted participants will receive an official invitation to join the trip along with details for making the advance payment.

Advance Payment: Shortlisted participants will receive advance payment instructions. Your slot for the trip will be confirmed only upon successful payment of the advance.

The selection process is solely at the discretion of the Coimbatore Adventure Club. If all slots are filled, we will notify you and place you on a waitlist.

➡️ Payment process:

Confirm your spot with an initial payment of ₹5,500 and it is non-refundable and non-transferable.
Option to pay advance amount through credit cards / wallets are also possible. Do request us at the time of payment.
Balance payment to be settled 30 days before the trip. Otherwise the balance payment has to be brought as cash during the trip.
Payment details will be shared if you are shortlisted for the trip.

➡️ Cancellation Policy:

1) Cancellation by participant:

Advance paid during trip confirmation is strictly non-refundable at any circumstances, as we group book the trains/vans, and accommodation. Also note that the advance payment will strictly be not transferrable to someone else or to a future trip, in case you are not joining the trip. In case a participant cancels at the last moment (within 48 hours of trip starting time), they will be requested to settle at least 75% of the total trip cost.

2) Cancellation due to unforeseen situations beyond our control:

In the event of trip cancellations due to natural calamities or unforeseen circumstances (e.g., extreme weather, floods, political unrest, or government-imposed restrictions)—essentially, any situation beyond CAC’s control—train/bus cancellation charges of ₹1,000 will be non-refundable. The remaining amount can be fully transferred to rescheduled dates or applied to any other trip of your choice.

Important Notice:

Coimbatore Adventure Club reserves the right to remove any participant from the trip at any time if they engage in any illicit or inappropriate behavior. This policy is in place to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all travelers. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
In case of misbehavior, the concerned participant can be sent home without any refund.
Please note that there could be small changes in the itinerary due to weather, local restrictions or any unforeseen circumstances. Suitable alternative plans will be made in such cases.
