BYU Men's Chorus Endowed Fund Details

The BYU Men’s Chorus has inspired millions with their uplifting, inspirational music for decades.

Despite the choir's global popularity, limited resources keep the choir from traveling and performing across the nation and world. The Men's Chorus simply doesn't have the funds to accept invitations it regularly receives to perform all over the nation. The BYU Men's Chorus Endowed Fund will change that.

Please help us to not only celebrate 21 years of service from the choir's current conductor, Rosalind Hall, but most importantly, ensure that the BYU Men's Chorus will reach new and diverse audiences across the world for generations to come.

The BYU Men's Chorus Endowed Fund will provide funding to the BYU Choral Department so that the Men's Chorus can perform and impact audiences in places the choir has never been.

Endowed Fund FAQS

How was the fundraising goal determined?

Given the sheer volume of alumni (over 3,000 during Sister Hall's tenure alone), reaching a million dollars in donations is certainly possible. Once the fund reaches the goal, the Men's Chorus can begin to draw on the growth of the fund in perpetuity.

How much should I give?

How much you choose to give is a personal decision. Whatever you can give will make an impact. Whatever you can give will matter.

You're certainly invited to be generous. Please reflect on how your involvement in Men's Chorus has impacted your life. By contributing generously to the fund you are ensuring that future generations of members of the Men's Chorus impact audiences that have yet to be reached.

How else can I help?

Spread the word. Share this page.

Anyone can donate to The BYU Men's Chorus Endowed Fund. Parents, family, and friends who have benefited from hearing the Men's Chorus are invited to donate.

Men's Chorus alumni from previous generations are invited to donate as well.

Additionally, some businesses and corporations match charitable contributions that their employees make. Consider reaching out to your employer to see if they will donate to the fund.

Is my donation tax-deductible?

Both LDS Philanthropies and Brigham Young University are 501(c)3 organizations. Donations are therefore tax-deductible.

Please seek guidance of a professional tax advisor for questions on how any donations may affect your personal tax situation.

How will the proceeds of the fund be used?

The primary purpose of The BYU Men's Chorus Endowed Fund is to broaden the reach of the Men's Chorus by funding concert and travel opportunities.

Proceeds of the fund may be used at the discretion of the BYU Choral Program and in compliance with all guidelines from Brigham Young University and LDS Philanthropies.

What is an "endowed fund"?

The BYU Men's Chorus Endowed Fund has been created under the guidance of LDS Philanthropies.

Donations to the fund are managed and invested by LDS Philanthropies. The earnings from the growth of the invested donations will become available to the BYU Choral Department to help the Men's Chorus travel and perform across the world.

By not using principal donations and only distributing from earnings, The BYU Men's Chorus Endowed Fund can provide funding in perpetuity.
