August 2018
Route (2 days)
Day 1:
- Achray
- Grand Lake
- Hydro Station Remains
- Clemow Lake
Day 2:
- Grand Lake Clemow Lake Portage Remains
- Grand Lake Native Pictographs
- Berm Lake Trail
- Berm Lake Logging Camp Remains
- Omanique Mill Remains (Bonnechere Provincial Park)
Had a great second trip this year exploring a couple spots on the Eastern side of the park... This was planned as a 5 day trip, but unfortunately I sliced my foot open when I got to camp the first day, where the 4th day was going to be a long hike, with the 5th day returning to the car/home. So I compressed 3 of the days into 2 and made the most of it. Perhaps I'll add the 2 missed days into a Baron River trip one day...
Achray
Grand Lake
Not visible, but there was a moose in the background here - Seems I wasn't quite quick enough for a good shot...
Hydro Station Remains
Clemow Lake
Remains around the campsite (NW site)
View from my tent before it got dark
View from my tent waking up the next morning :-(
The paddle back across Clemow L
Grand Lake Clemow Lake Portage Remains
While I searched around, I couldn't locate any structure/foundations/etc, I'm curious as to the story for these...
Grand Lake Native Pictographs
Berm Lake Logging Camp Remains
The walk along the Barm Lake trail was nice, but finding remains from the old logging camp was certainly the highlight...
Omanique Mill Remains (Bonnechere Provincial Park)
It was only after a trip earlier this year that I had learned of these remains. Which Murphy's law - I had driven right by (relatively). So thought it worth the stop on the way home this time...
After the night's rain - The road was a little 'interpretive' in some spots...
