There is a mob here in Australia, family affair, that make ones that no one complains about. They are not cheap, but they don't break down like all the others either. A lifetime investment. They have others in their range

depending on what you're doing and where you're going is a second-hand bar fridge an option? I bought a second-hand NEC bar fridge from a motel refurb and use it for camping at a powered site. cost $100 and hasn't missed a beat in 7 years.

The OzTrail with LG compressor, 3 year warranty, and Kings Stayzcool with Secop/Danfoss compressor 5 year warranty. These are unbeatable for value, qualify, cabinet construction and equipment.

These were both chosen after extensive testing of heaps of different brand and fridges twice the price for the Covid Vaccine rural rollout.

In the 90L dual zone the Kings Stayzcool is the only one fitted with the bigger Secop/Danfoss BD50F compressor. It runs at lower speed and is one few capable to maintain safe food storage temperatures in tropical conditions.

Don't make the mistake and be a gullible sucker to advertising and hearsay from clueless gullible people and paying a reassuringly high price for a fridge. After all it is an insulated box, compressor and thermostat.

The above all carry the same traits if you think about it. Made in China from components assembled in China...

Difference being the actual finish and the warranty.

I have a 22 yr old 30 odd ltr Engel still going strong in me old ute that lives in all conditions bar a canvas canopy. Telltale says it barely moves from 2c-6c

Have a 90ltr Kings dual zone that struggles to keep temps either side undercover in my camp trailer. Covered it it with insulfoil and made a difference but constant is fridge side:2-9c bouncing to freezer side: -18-2 bouncing at worst last trip.

That is where both the OzTrail and Kings Stayzcool excelled against so many others.

Engel are so expensive to repair they end up on the dump. They are also no more reliable than any other fridge. There are heaps of Waeco's older than 30 years with Danfoss compressors.

Fact is the 90L Kings Stayzcool 90L dual zone beat all other comers hands down. They are the only fridge in that size with the compressor capacity to maintain safe food storage temperatures at 45C. Everything else failed from miserably to hopelessly.

Kings have just received the biggest single procurement order for their Stayzcool fridges after extensive testing carried out over twelve months. All the fanboys and fangirls to their faboured brand to boost their poor self esteem all failed in one or more areas.

If you want the best, get one of these . . . .

Days of Trailblaza have gone. With solar panels and lithium batteries there is now no need for the massive insulation. For most they are too heavy and take up too much space. Only run flawlessly like any other compressor fridge with a Secop/Danfoss or LG compressor. Fridge is only an insulated box, compressor and thermostat from another supplier.

I've had one since 1994, still running perfectly

Nothing to do with the maker of the fridge, it is all about the quality of compressor. They are just a standard Secop/Danfoss compressor. There are heaps of other fridges still working perfectly from that era.

I repaired portable fridges and tested them in our certified test chamber for too bloody long and know all the brands and models backwards.

Interestingly while some knock one brand and praise up another they often in fact come out of the same Chinese/Asian factory with a difference in case design only.

Trouble is too many rely on hearsay from others and BS and have zero technical refrigeration knowledge, let alone any expertise.

Lets celebrate, once upon a time 'MADE IN AUSTRALIA'.

Check the flue is not blocked. That would be the first port of call.

If you have not smelt ammonia, there shouldn't be an issue finding out why it doesn't work.

I sell bushmans, agree they are made in China just like the rest, but the company honours all warranty claims.

The clone at kings looks good to me as well, just have to see if they bend over backwards for any issue like bushman does.

The clone at kings looks good to me

ROFLOL The 85L at Kings is NOT a clone, it is the identical fridge basically from the same factory with superior specifications. The Bushman 85L is $1,495.00 and the superior Kings fridge with superior warranty of 5 years is on special at times for $649.00. The Kings 110L for $899.00 and the 130L is on the water now and will be $999.00.

All fridges today are "extremely low power" as all compressors are nearly identical in capacity.

In RV type compressors LG actually holds the crown for effeciency/low power. OzTrail with LG compressor and Kings Stayzcool with Secop compressor are unbeatable for build quality, price and length of warranty. Especially Kings with 5 years warranty.

All companies honour all warranty claims. I used to do warranty work for most, and never ever had issues with any company, except the odd customer from hell that wanted warranty and wasn't. I would just hand them a Consumer Affairs form and tell them to go there, and never lost as had all the proof in pictures. However the large majority of so called 'warranty claims' were not warranty at all. Most were cigarette lighter plug issues, low voltage, undersized wiring. Thermistors were the most common fault, usually out of warranty.

They have dropped it. Check their website. It's no longer listed on any of their advertising and spec sheets, this used to be their main selling point. It's only listed on their slide out fridge. This change happened about 6-8 weeks ago. There are still some secop compressor stock floating around but they've changed them to another brand. I forget the other brand mentioned.

Thanks for reaching out to us. We're now using the industry standard Huyai compressors in our fridge range. Please let us know if you have any other questions, Thank you.

Read the reviews around and you wouldn't buy one.

The OzTrail with the LG compressor from Anaconda has variable speed compressor.

Better built unit and lowest power consumption compressor for performance.

Super defensive, offensive (In regards to me selling bushmans, because of course I do, I don't work for supa so I can't sell kings.)

E: My background is in refrig 1991-2012 with 6 years mainly warranty work, even though I now work for a 4wd shop. I'm new to this game, but not to the old one.

I have three, one is a Bushman used as a static freezer only in its 45l guise at -14, the other is a Companion/Mammoth in dual zone 72l in size and used as a static fridge only at 2 degrees set temp and a 45l Oztrail used as a drinks fridge set at 0 degrees also used as my go away fridge, they all work well but a few things to consider, if you are looking at a Dual Zone fridge remember they are very heavy once loaded up due to their size and will use a huge amount of power if used as a fridge/freezer.

All mine run off solar systems I have set up, the portable away fridge uses a 250 watt foldable panel whilst away or static like the others when at home, I know of other who have engels and the 4wd superstore fridges and are happy with them however one person that I know who goes camping a lot has two engels one set up as freezer and the other as a fridge and is happy with that arrangement

The cold stuff and vegetables, etc were kept in a thick ice box(40L) that was kept cold by frozen water bottles being swapped in every couple of days. The melted water bottle were either cold water supply or put back to freeze.

I've had a few fridge/freezers in my time the first was a small Engel, a bushfire destroyed it and I needed something bigger so I purchased an EvaKool (75 l), Aus. design and pretty good, I had it many years and was very happy with it, eventually it got ill and had to be replaced (no fault of EvaKool) so i bought another EvaKool slightly larger (I think 83 l), it's been a great workhorse, but after about 4 years it failed and the EvaKool service network is IMO their weakness; I had to have a fridge in a hurry so I found I could get a 95 l dual compartment Brass Monkey from a Jaycar agency so i bought it. Subsequently EvaKool sent me the parts required to fix the EvaKool free of charge and I now have two.

I like the EvaKool and it is the one that I use when we go shopping (a 4 hour round trip). The Brass Monkey is sitting in the garage acting as a chest freezer on the mains; the only trouble with the BM for running in the ute is it's BLACK! Sitting in the sun in the supermarket carpark for 10 minutes it gets too hot to touch even under the torneau cover, the EvaKool is white and it stays cool. 152ee80cbc
