Kal'iff falls under the Technician class and is adept at finding weaknesses in armor. He can take down shields with an EMP burst from a small device that floats beside him, and can also offer small amounts of healing from a dart gun he created.
Mass Effect 1-3:
A new species has been discovered flying through the galaxy and exploring. They're wary of others but not overly aggressive towards anyone. They seem to get along best with the Volus, however.
Kal'iff was on the team of explorers that discovered the Mass Relays and, despite everyone else agreeing that it needed to be kept a secret for now, Kal'iff decided to leak the information to the public. He believed that discoveries should be shared, not hoarded. It led to his people being able to go beyond their star system and meeting the other races. This landed him on house arrest for several years before he finally managed to gain his freedom. The perception of him among his people is mixed. Other scientists and the common people were excited by the new discovery and saw him as a hero for sharing; the scientists on his team and the elite did not share the sentiment.
It was better for him to leave.
He was accepted by the Volus as a researcher for one of their teams, and now holds a position as an exploratory scientist who studies Prothean ruins.
I'm unsure if I'll let him be romanced.
Andromeda:
Kal'iff is sent on the exploratory crew to aid other scientists on their work in the Andromeda galaxy. He can be recruited after the first settlement is cleared for use on Eos, and he's found having an argument with one of the guards over footage of the Kett in the area and the need to send someone to deal with them before they move in on the settlement. While generally even-tempered, Kal'iff does have his outbursts if he thinks the Angarans are being taken advantage of or threatened.
I'm unsure if I'll let him be romanced.
