Kal'iff left his town and went out on his own after being ostracized for freeing a man his people had taken prisoner after a skirmish. The man was old and wise, and Kal'iff thought it was wrong of his people to keep the man locked away for the rest of his life as a prisoner. He was an innocent bystander from the neighboring village, and he didn't deserve to be caught up in the politics of war. The man turned out to be a Muse and granted Kal'iff a boon of musical talent. It was not enough to keep him out of trouble, however, and the village was quick to "ask" him to leave. He was chased out.
Since then, he has traveled on his own, collecting stories of heroes and villains alike, retelling them to laypeople and nobility alike. He loves his job, and he tries to sew kindness and understanding when and where he can as a peacemaker.
He stands at an impressive (for his species) 6'4, and wears a red poncho over his tunic and trousers. Kal'iff sports a set of daggers with pearl inlay on the handles that he received as a gift from a duke he performed for. He still has his first pair of daggers that he keeps as backups.
